The Iranian military unveiled on September 1 a locally upgraded version of the American-made M60 main battle tank, dubbed “Soleiman 1402″.
The upgraded tank was showcased during a ceremony held at the Shahid Zarharan Center of the Army Ground Force. The ceremony was attended by Iranian Army chief commander, Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi, and Commander of the Ground Force of the Iranian Army Brigadier General Kiumars Heidari.
Some M60A1 tanks were supplied by the United States to Iran prior to the islamic revolution of 1979. Currently, some 150 tanks of this type remain in service with the Iranian military.
The Soleiman 1402 upgrade includes a new armor package, fire control system, a remotely-controlled machine gun, a laser warning system and an infrared jammer for anti-tank guided missiles. It is still unclear if the Iranian military is planning to upgrade all of its M60 tanks to this standard.

to do that you would have first to sink the us and nato fleet in the mediteranian. and if you would move a big enough military towards isreal, they would use the nukes to destroy your army. so everything besides drones and missiles is pointless in this long distance war.

wonder how it compares to idf m60 upgrades. would like to see some era strapped on top of it. iran always made good use of yank weapons, the f14 in particular. if top gun was a realistic movie, it would be about iranian aces not made up hollywood heroes.

what? it’s still an m 60. a 50-60 year old frame with a poor engine and a very high silhouette. these tanks didn’t compare favorably to soviet tanks during the cold war and it is under-gunned. (assuming it still has a 105 – the article was silent about that) how is that not dog shit? no mention of anti-drone defenses… you can paint an autobot symbol on it but that doesn’t change what it is
actually that looks like a soviet 2a46m; iran upgraded all of its m60a1s to one of two variants, the ‘zulfiqar’ and the ‘samsam’. the zulfiqar uses the 2a46m.
it is now the best time to use them against the savage jewz, iran (and islam) only enemy.

the iranians always give it a try and put up a fight. russia should have allied with them decades ago instead of joining the us and putting sanctions on them.
