The Iranian Army’s Ground Forces received on July 17 three new Mohajer-6 unmanned combat aerial vehicles (UCAVs) in an official ceremony attended by senior military commanders.
“With the deployment of these unmanned aerial vehicles, any threat to the Iranian borders and even beyond the borders, will be identified, tracked down and removed before it could even take form,” commander of drone unit in the Ground Forces, Brig. Gen. Hasannejad, said during the ceremony, according to Mehr News.
Iran began mass production of the indigenously-developed Mohajer-6 in February of last year. The UCAV is bigger than the other types of Mohajer family.
Mohajer-6 has full intelligence, surveillance, target acquisition, and reconnaissance (ISTAR) capabilities. The UCAV can carry a multispectral surveillance payload as well as up to two Qaem electro-optical guided munitions.
Last week, the Iranian Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) used Mohajer-6 UCAVs in its attack on Kurdish militants in the Iraqi Kurdistan region. The UCAVs proved to be highly effective.
