Iranian-Backed Forces Open New Bridge On Euphrates River In Syria’s Deir Ezzor

Iranian-backed forces in the eastern Syrian governorate of Deir Ezzor had completed the construction of a new bridge on the Euphrates River, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported on January 16.

According to the London-based monitoring group, commanders of Iranian forces and senior officers from the Syrian Arab Army and the National Defense Forces in Deir Ezzor attended the bridge opening ceremony.

The new bridge links seven government-held towns on the eastern bank of the Euphrates, Hatla, Murat, Mazloum, Khasham, Tabiya, Salhiya, and Husayniyah, with the government-held city of Deir Ezzor.

Iranian-backed forces in Deir Ezzor began the construction of the bridge last December. These forces maintain a strong presence in government-held towns on the eastern bank of the Euphrates. Many of the locals there are from the Islamic Shiite sect.

The SOHR claims that Iranian-backed forces will use the bridge to move weapons and military equipment across the Euphrates River.

This is the second bridge to link government-held towns on the eastern bank of the Euphrates with the western bank. The first bridge was constructed by the Russian military a few years ago and is currently run by Syrian authorities.

I hope they are strong enough to take tanks, time to take those oil wells back from the criminals.

Cuckmander Hebrew

No, that’s playing to the enemy’s strengths by offering targets to their air force.

The smart move is mobile vehicles that can move across smaller bridges quickly and make it to the city from where they can project power into the countryside bit by bit.

I agree. From a military point many light vehicles makes more sense.

They also can use artillery form the side, where they are now. Even its inaccuratenormal heavy artillery reach 10 kilomter and can spend many shells fast.

Cromwell

If those tanks had Russian air cover that would make the difference,i said before even if the Syrians can’t take back the oil then they should destroy it.

Chris Gr

Actually, Russia doesn’t want Iran there.

jens holm

You have too many ifs.

Zionist LOSERS

I am confused, the great Zionist mickey mouse child killers were supposed to have expelled Iran from Syria a decade ago?

jens holm

New ones arrived in those days. The Ottomans finally collapsed.

The winners took over. It mainly was France and Great Brittaian.

They mainly took the Turkish Oilcompany, which was in Kirkuk.

Then USA arrived because oil had become important.

USA arrived for real during WW2 not only because of oil but very much as having a big supplyline to USSR by a big road and railroad by Iran(Qaum and Teheran).

That was where the real dispute started because Iran had a lot of oil too(Abadan) and bad governess. The brittish under and after WW2 became weak. By that at the winner of WW2 named USA took over and expanded.

jens holm

It also makes no sense USA and the rest of us should have been expelled decades ago. The main problem is and are those Iraqians has not educted themself to take over the main parts. Where they are, they mainly are quite ineffective.

So in some manner You are right, but You also is very wrong. You seemes to prefare Saddam. And yes he actually among many bad things educated parts of Iraq to be a develloped country.

Chris Gr

Syria is in 3 possible axis

1) Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Lebanon 2) Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Syria, Turkey 3) Iran, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon

jens holm

I have given up that kind of Syria.

8 millions are not even in the country and greatparts of the rest of the Assads only partly has military control as well there are several enclaves, which all are vital or very hostile to Assads.

And where is the rest of the world in this as alliance.
