Iranian FM: Russia Stops Using Iran's Air Base

A spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry said on August 22, Russia has stopped the use of the Irainian Hamadan Air Base.

“Russia has no base in Iran and is not stationed here. They did this (operation) and it is finished for now,” Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qasemi was quoted as saying by Tasnim news agency.

There are no official comments from the Russian Defense Ministry on the topic.

Iranian Defense Minister Hossein Dehqan stated on August 22 that Tehran will not transfer control of Hamadan Air Base to Russia for air strikes on terrorist targets on Syria.

“We have not given any military base to the Russians and they are not here to stay,” Dehghan was quoted as saying by the Fars news agency.

Last week, long-range Russian Tupolev-22M3 bombers and Sukhoi-34 fighter bombers used the Iraniain Hamadan Air Bause to launch air strikes on terrorist targets in Syria, in a move which underscored Moscow’s increasingly close ties with Tehran.

Russia blinked under USA threats.

Reports are that the agreement had been assumed to be low key and that the Iranians felt embarrassed when the Russians made a lot of noise about it.

Responding to a question about why Iran didn’t initially announce Russia’s presence at the airfield, Dehghan appeared prickly on the state TV broadcast.

“Russians are interested to show they are a superpower to guarantee their share in political future of Syria and, of course, there has been a kind of show-off and ungentlemanly (attitude) in this field,” he said.

Dehghan’s remarks also suggest Russia and Iran initially agreed to keep Moscow’s use of the air base quiet. Its announcement likely worried Iran’s Sunni-ruled Mideast neighbors, which host American military personnel.

They did not made a lot of noise about it; the United States of Aggressors did.

The Russians acts no better than Turkey when it suits them only to turn around and start crying mama when the shoe is on the other leg. Let’s face it an agreement that was meant to be low key was publicised with fanfare I mean imagine. Little wonder why none will ever feel relaxed having Russia as a strategic partner, they are so concerned about being accepted by the West that they’ll do anything including breach a trust without blinking an eye to be included among western elite nations which always treat them as inferior. Could it be that Russia really suffer from inferiority complex about the West? Your guess is as good as mine.

That is exactly what I think!

But no, Russia is even worse. Russia cannot even pursue its own interests in a consistent manner! Sadly, they do everything so haphazardly…!

And that is why so may people are disgusted with Russia… and that is why Russia is viewed as a threat… which is why Russia has almost no allies. It had never before been as clear as during the United Nations General Assembly voting on Crimea.

The Russian conduct and Russia’s voting record at the United Nations Security Council is close to abysmal!

They allowed the bombing of Libya and the proliferation of “Islamic terrorism” into the neighbouring regions and beyond.

Next, they imposed a one-sided arms embargo on the Yemeni government under attack by the biggest arms importer in the world—Saudi Arabia.

No one will ever trust the Russians, if they continue to betray their allies (e.g. the Iranians in 2008).

They are way too meek and often act in a way that is incredibly foolish, sometimes even suicidal.
