Iranian Forces Seized Foreign Vessel In Persian Gulf Over Fuel-Smuggling

ILLUSTRATIVE

On September 7, Iran seized a boat and arrested 12 Filipino crewmen in the Persian Gulf. The detention took place in the framework of the operation against a suspected fuel-smuggling ring in the Strait of Hormuz waterway.

“Coast guards successfully seized a foreign ship in the Strait of Hormuz,” Major Hossein Dehaki, the coast guard chief in the southern province of Hormozgan, said.

According to Dehaki, the group was suspected of operating a fuel-smuggling ring and the confiscated shipment had been intercepted close to Sirik county in the Strait of Hormuz.

This is not the first time when Iran detains a vessel involved in the supposed fuel-smuggling in the area.

On July 14, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) detained a “foreign tanker” in the Persian Gulf for smuggling contraband fuel.

“With a capacity of two million litres and 12 foreign crew on board, the vessel was en route to deliver contraband fuel received from Iranian boats to foreign ships,” the IRGC said at the time.

The tanker appeared to be the Panamanian-flagged MT Riah.

In a separate development, on July 19, the IRGC detained the British-flagged Stena Impero tanker in the Strait of Hormuz.

The world should wake up and watch that how professionally and violently the politicians in Washington commit robberies in the world.

They buy cheap subsidized fuel in Iran and sell it to foreign countries and make a profit. Obviously the US dont want to stop this as it hurts Iranian civilians. Hence the plan to provide escorts like the air cover the US gives al queda and ISIS..

A lot is also smuggled to Israeli occupied Iraqi Kurdistan. Nice camouflage on the IRGC speedboats though.

US and UK smuggling cheap fossil oil out of Iran through proxy, while asking everybody else not to buy oil on the free market. Someone ought to take this case to WTO and fine these two pocket thieves.

d'Artagnan

Iranian oil is highly subsidized and very good quality low sulfur, even Russians prefer that. Iran is the major supplier to Armenia too. Its cheap domestic cost and high quality make it attractive for smugglers.

Bravo Iran, the only country with integrity to call out them dancing child burners no matter the cost.
