Any action against Iran would have serious consequences for US interests in the region, armed forces general staff spokesman Brigadier General Abolfazl Shekarchi told the Tasnim News Agency.
“Firing one bullet towards Iran will set fire to the interests of America and its allies. Today, the situation in the region is to Iran’s advantage. If the enemy – especially America and its allies in the region – make the military mistake of shooting the powder keg on which America’s interests lie, the region will be set on fire”, the news agency quoted the general as saying.
The remarks by the Iranian general followed a statement by US President Donald Trump that he had stopped an operation against three sites in Iran 10 minutes before it was set to be carried out.

The new round of escalation in relations betwen Iran and the US started on June 20 when Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps shot down an intruding US spy drone.

Are your sure of that? It’s long been known that air power alone is not enough to defeat an enemy. In Kosovo the NATO air campaign left the Serbian armoured forces and artillery they were targeting largely intact due to camouflage and decoys. North Korea suffered the most intensive bombing campaign in history and it wasn’t “erased from the world map” or even defeated the Koreans militarily and they didn’t have 40 years to plan for a war against the USA by digging in, fortifying and shaping their force for exactly this war. Vietnam suffered some intense bombing and survived to win the war.
Even if by some miracle the US air war was 100% successful and found every tunnel, every mobile missile launcher and every bunker buried deep in the mountainous terrain of iran this without having to dig them out with infantry and without a single causality this war is going to drive the world economy into a deep recession by driving up the cost of oil and cost the USA it’s dominant place in the world economy.

I had posted the whole Iranian asymmetrical warfare doctrine developed under the fiery President Ahmadinejad, a special forces veteran himself. Iran is quite prepared. On a recent road trip from Norduz crossing to Tabriz there are dozens of closed military zones with heavy traffic. Iran will take good advantage of its immense size and mountainous topography against any aggressor. Iranians have disbursed their assets and will not wait for a strike.
The general is right, it’s the only way to deal with the Americans. The Americans are so used to destroying helpless countries that they don’t know what to do when the enemy returns fire and is almost as fanatical as the Americans/Israelis.

Unfortunately the collapse of the USSR just encouraged and emboldened the American megalomania for global domination. Only now Russia, China and Iran are exerting themselves.

In practical terms Armenia never left the USSR and would welcome a reunion. Most of the ex-Soviet republics are basketcases and can not manage themselves without Russian support. Ukraine does not exist, Georgia is a complete mess and so are all the Muslim republics. Only Belarus and Armenia are stable and strong with good ties with both Russia and Iran, our good neighbors and friends.
Armenia has suffered something akin to a coup, so… no. Also, Belarus can not survive without a reunified greater Russia. We all know that. Our forebears have been building it for hundreds if not thousands of years. Either we stand together or we all perish.

As a frequent visitor to Iran, it is quite obvious that the Iranians are well prepared to defend their country. US should think logically and refrain from starting a very destructive and costly conflict that will not remain contained. Trump should take a leaf from his ghost written book “Art of the deal” and engage Iran in dialogue with respect. Threats have the opposite effect in the polite and sophisticated Persian culture.
