The Iranian Navy seized a tanker in the Gulf of Oman on January 11 in response to the theft of Iranian oil by the United States last year, Iranian state media reported.
“The Navy of Iran’s Army has announced the seizure of an American oil tanker in the Gulf of Oman with a judicial order,” Iranian state media cited a statement by the military as saying.
The tanker was identified as the Marshall Islands-flagged tanker St Nikolas, which was reportedly loaded with Iraqi crude destined for Turkey .
Earlier in the day, the British maritime security firm Ambrey reported that the St Nikolas was boarded by gunmen as it sailed close to the Omani city of Sohar. The tanker’s AIS tracking system was turned off as it headed in the direction of the Iranian port of Bandar-e-Jask.
In 2023 the St Nikolas was seized by the U.S. in a sanctions enforcement operation when it sailed under a different name, Suez Rajan.
The U.S. said at the time that Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) had been trying to smuggle Iranian oil to China, in violation of U.S. sanctions.
The Suez Rajan was carrying more than 980,000 barrels of Iranian crude oil when it was seized and the oil confiscated in the U.S. sanctions enforcement operation. Following the seizure of the tanker, Iran warned the U.S. that “it will not go unanswered”.
The Gulf of Oman and nearby waters witnessed in recent years a series of ship seizures by Iran as well as attacks targeting shipping which were often blamed on the IRGC.
The seizure of the St Nikolas came amid high tensions between Iran and the U.S. over the Israeli war on the Palestinian Gaza Strip.
The Iranian-backed Houthis (Ansar Allah) in Yemen have already seized a cargo ship and attacked several others to protest the war, which led to a shipping crisis in the Red Sea. Washington responded by forming a naval coalition and deploying a carrier strike group near Yemen’s waters.
if tanker was going to turkey, could be oil for israel, as turkey is a large transit country for israel oil. even if oil for turkey, it might force turkey to divert azerbaijan oil destined to israel for turkey use.

this article was confusing. it took me three reads to realize it was the same ship seized by the americans in 2023. maybe it will be seized by some other country in 2025.
maybe if the grudge stopped harassing japanese housewives 24/7 it would have time to understand the article…
hey at least i admitted it. i called myself the crunge not the grudge. maybe you got a little confused yourself.
what is this japanese housewife situation you referred to? it sounds pretty cool. i might enjoy harassing them .

“the u.s. said at the time that iran’s islamic revolutionary guard corps (irgc) had been trying to smuggle iranian oil to china, in violation of u.s. sanctions.”
imagine the arrogance of these western pigs. “us sanctions” on a country 5500 nautical miles away?
right, but apart from that, sanctions without un mandate are fully illegal anyway
not sure hat the ziomafia controlled us ever cared about international law. just like their owners in israel.
maybe you are jens holms with google translator, yeahhh what a great idea to put explosives on an oil ship, you punish your enemies blowing yourself, you are a clever guy *sarcasm shield off* assisting too many hollywood movies will damage your brain for sure.
you are the google translator. this a genuine post… not very clever though. y ahora echate un polvo
i like man
naturally, denfruitweirdo…
like who in the world thinks this was a wrong move by iran?
here is the thing, sanctioning a country/person doesn’t give anyone the right to steal that country/person assets.
remember that russia said and did the same thing, when the eu and us mention that they are going to steal russian assets and give it to ukraine (fund their proxy) – russia said they would do the same.
‘..in violation of u.s. sanctions.’
how can anyone, even a g-d-yankee, still say that with a straight face?
iran and yemen now setting the pace in the ‘stickin’ it to murica’ stakes. surely the iraqis are also eyeing up all the u-s military hardware in syria as part payment for the carnage inflicted by nato in 2003? sauce for the goose? maybe ask the taliban for advice.
is the worm turning…?
direct remedy against the actions of a pilfering, stealing, thieving regime in clownsville usa (washington dc) that appears to believe that it has the god given right to act as an authoritarian regime above all others. it doesn’t!
russian response to pilfering, thieving and stealing shall be even more of a slap to them.
“the u.s. said at the time that iran’s islamic revolutionary guard corps (irgc) had been trying to smuggle iranian oil to china, in violation of u.s. sanctions.” – this statement makes me cringe. there is no ‘rule’ in the ‘so-called rules based world order’ that allows the u.s. to prevent trade between two sovereign countries. i cannot believe how the u.s. msm accepts this at face value. how would we react if china started seizing u.s. cargo ships for ‘smuggling’.
we are hillbilly cowards inferior species
the un security council passed a resolution on wednesday demanding an immediate end to the houthi attacks. – thats quick, clearly a few ships are worth more than 20k palastinians.
give the western pirates a taste of their own medicine
iran, hezbollah, hamas and the houthis have more courage than the entire anglozionazi empire of filth and will make sure they pay for their crimes against humanity. fire with fire and fire is all the snaggle toothed demon$ have ever understood. we look forward to the glug glug glug of tranny filled rusty tubs sinking in the med and the red sea not to mention nut’nyahoo roasted crispy. it’s coming because karma always collects.
