On September 24, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) kicked off an operation against Kurdish Iranian insurgents in the Iraqi Kurdistan Region.
In a brief statement, the guards’ Ground Forces said that they are targeting the headquarters of “terrorist groups” in Kurdistan.
“Our operations, which are meant to provide lasting security, punish terrorist perpetrators and push the [Kurdistan] region’s authorities to assume their responsibilities, will continue,” the statement reads.
The IRGC went on to call on civilians in Kurdistan to stay away from the headquarters of the “terrorist groups” that opposes Iran.
According the Mehr News Agency, the IRGC Ground Forces targeted the headquarters of the Komala Party of Iranian Kurdistan and other Kurdish Iranian guerilla groups in the Barbzin Heights to prevent a unit of well-armed insurgents from infiltrating Iran’s border. The agency said that the insurgents want to “create chaos” in Iran.
The IRGC operation in the Kurdistan Region came amid mass protests in Iran. The protests were triggered by the death of Mahsa Amini, a Kurdish Iranian woman who was arrested for allegedly breaking Iran’s strict rules on wearing the hijab, the Islamic head covering for women.
Iran, which has already accused foreign powers of supporting the protests, is apparently warried that the United States could use Kurdish Iranian guerilla groups in the Kurdistan Region to spark an insurgency on its border with Iraq, or even within its territory. The Komala Party is one of the groups that enjoys close relations with Washington.

This statement is extremely insulting to all Iranians. Kurdish language is an Iranian heritage and we will defend it just like we defend Iran. In the last days, 2 separate armed teams of these terror groups who tried to enter Iran from Iraq’s Kordestan were destroyed. Another armed team which tried to enter Iran from Baku regime territory was trapped and all of them apprehended in Khoda Afarin. Poor idiots couldn’t even go a few kilometers. The reason is, first the geography is very different and flat and second, with Aliyev’s obsession our armed forces are watching the whole area (and several hundreds of kilometers further north) day and night. If our forces can successfully detect, intercept and catch the ones in the hard to pass mountain, it’s a piece of cake for them around Aras river.
At the same time of these infiltration attempts, both Aliev and Barzani ran their mouths against Iran. I guess they’ll soon find out how much every single word will cost them… :D
A large number of provocateurs are in the hands of security forces and they sing as soon as they are caught. Strange, who are these “Iran_revolution_2022” leaders!? Perhaps these provocateurs weren’t being paid enough to die for the cause? If the death of Mahsa Amini, for breaking Iran’s strict rules on wearing the hijab, is correct then that’s a bit of a concern. People should be able to dress how they want and not due to some out-dated doctrine which was written for a totally different time. That wouldn’t go down very well in the west where Women are not seen as chattel. In the most part, anyway.
Sure, but the point is that the process of secularization and of overcoming superstitions should be left to Iranian society itself to deal with. That the global neocolonial program uses religion (both fundamentalism and atheism) as a medium is a fact that itself empowers reactionaries like these Ayatollahs and Mullahs.
The religious class has become the ruling class in Iran, phenomally corrupt, and they are held in place solely because of the even greater threat of foreign subjugation should the structure collapse. There is no such thing as reform in Iranian society without a class-centered politics.

The core issue is the sovereignty of states and the freedom of peoples to develop without the yoke of the global Dollar regime. More information regarding her death came out. Murder or accidental death as a cause of bodily harm is ruled out by testimony of a several different doctors in addition to the coroner. But the responsibility of the system remains because she passed away while in police building.
There’s a problem here. While many people (including observing and religious people) are against the dress code and involving the police in it, the west’s provocations turned it into some sort of security issue. Government needs to solve it on its own term and they were doing it by simply not implementing it for some time and then attempt to change the law by claiming that it is no longer useful and we need to do more cultural work instead of it. With outside pressure the government can’t back down for obvious reasons and they (collective west) know this too. They don’t want it to be resolved, hence the constant incidents (even a few months ago where there was not any and the patrol wasn’t active, they invented one in their imaginations and filled the social networks). There are known agents (like the woman who claimed IRI wanted to assassinate her because someone rang her doorbell, SF had an article about it. The FBI released the guy by the way about 10 days ago and cleared him of all accusation) with considerable funding, in $millions range, to not let it rest.
The last thing we care about is how the west thinks about us. The country’s national security and integrity is at the paramount and this issue is one the social fault lines which needs to be addressed for our own sake, not because others might think lesser of us. It will be solved but what happened in recent days postponed it for at least another year. Damn them.
I think the only thing keeping Turkey and Iran more or less on the same side is the mutual security concern regarding the Kurds. Hafez al Assad also is fully aware of how treacherous they are and if Merdogone plays his cards right with the Syrian government, he just might convince Assad to arrive at some sort of compromise solution. However, it would be a very bitter pill for Assad to swallow especially since Assad knows that Turkey is openly warming up to Israel again.
Turkey doesn’t need Assad’s help. It will deal with all threats to Turkey regardless of who runs Damascus.
