Iraq: Pro-Iranian Forces Attacked Five US Supply Convoys In Two Days

Pro-Iranian forces attacked five convoys moving logistic supplies and equipment for the US-led coalition in different parts of Iraq in less than 48 hours.

Late on November 27, two supply convoys were targeted in the southern province of Dhi Qar and the central province of Babylon. The Islamic Resistance in Iraq – ‘Ashab al-Kahf claimed responsibility for both attacks.

On November 28, three supply convoys were attacked in the southern provinces of al-Qadisiyyah and al-Muthanna as well as in Babylon.

‘Ashab al-Kahf claimed responsibility for the attacks in al-Qadisiyyah and Babylon while the attack in al-Muthanna was claimed by another pro-Iranian group, the al-Muhandis Revenge Brigade.

The newly-formed group is named after deputy commander of the Iraqi Popular Mobilization Units Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis who was killed in a US drone strike along with Iranian Quds Force commander Qasem Soleimani on 3 January 2020.

All five supply convoys were targeted with improvised explosive devices, the weapon of choice for pro-Iranian forces in Iraq.

Earlier this month, pro-Iranian forces issued a final warning for the US. Pro-Iranian forces called on Washington to withdrew all of its troops from Iraq before the end of December 31, promising a heated battle if their demand was not fulfilled.

Pro-Iranian forces may be preparing to start a full-on insurgency against US troops in Iraq with the beginning of next year.

It looks that in a few weeks we will have another Afghanistan debacle.

Cuco

hasbara troll ? head choppers are in Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar and obviously the ones that have corrupted the world stolen Palestine

Jon

Sadr will not tolerate a Shia civil war against the Sunni or the US.

Cromwell

To fight against a foreign occupier is not a civil war its the right thing to do,if any locals like the SDF support and collaborate with that foreign occupation like the Vichy French did they to should be atacked, its that simple.

Peter Wallace

So what damage did they achieve or was it another dusting for the trucks and a change of underwear for the drivers. The trucks need a head on RPG .

Cromwell

I don’t understand why those trucks are not totally obliterated like they were in Afghanistan, another US convoy entered Syria from Iraq the other day, that should have been blasted to hell.

Lone Ranger

Because these are precision IEDs, they target the suspension or the engine. They use a lot less explosives, which is very economical. Minimum effort maximum damage. It doesn’t matter if you vaporize the whole truck or you make it inoperable. Fact is its out of service.

“Pro-Iranian forces may be preparing to start a full-on insurgency against US troops in Iraq with the beginning of next year.”

That would be more bad news for US military still reeling from Afghanistan humiliation. If they are also routed in Iraq, the empire’s days are surely numbered..

Lone Ranger

At this point the Iraqi resistance is boosting the truck production a lot more than Walmart and supply chains.
