Iraq Reponds To Tillerson’s Statement About 'Iranian Militias', Says No Party To Interferene Into Iraqi Matters

The Iraqi government has responded to a statement of US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson demanding “Iranian militias” involved in the conflict to “go home”.

On Sunday, Tillerson described the Iraqi Popular Mobilization Units (PMU) as “Iranian militants” and said they have to go home showing that Washington wants to know nothing about the real core of this organization.

On Monday, Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi’s office released a statement on the issue saying that ‘No party has the right to interfere in Iraqi matters.” The statement added that the PMU made “enormous sacrifices to defend their country and the Iraqi people.”

The recently grown Kurdish-Arab tensions and the US hostile attitude towards the PMU, one of the key parts of the Iraqi Armed Forces contribute to further cooling of the  relations between Washington and Baghdad. Despite this, Iraq and the US keep a high level of cooperation and relations in military, eoconic and diplomatic spheres.

He likes U.S. money, otherwise he would have said, ‘these are Iraqi citizens you idiot’.

Solomon Krupacek

but they are not. tollerson did not talk about iraqi shia population, but iranian military advisors.

George King

What about US military advisers and troops in Iraq?

On 19 December 2016, Iraqi President Fuad Masum approved a law passed by parliament in November that incorporated PMU into the country’s armed forces how ever they operate separately and jointly on different missions. With this incorporation, the PMU are now subject to the supreme commander of the national armed forces and will no longer be affiliated to any political or social group.

Solomon Krupacek

yanks are yanks. :)

Igor Dano

U r another idiot, tolerson.

Bob

Meanwhile, the US itself has stationed its military advisors across both the YPG militias and the Iraqi military, seeking to dominate all sides in the Iraqi game…

chris chuba

Fair enough. He is just demanding that the militias disband and all Iranians leave Iraq while the U.S. remains in Iraq. It was arrogance, not ignorance.

Maybe the Iranians should demand that all U.S. forces leave Haiti and Syria, oh wait, we in the U.S. are the forces of light, everyone knows that. No one should be suspicious of a military force that travels halfway around the world to a country that borders your own country :-)

Solomon Krupacek

i agree with you. it is arrogance. it is so big loss, that your country wastes money and energy for illision of hegemony. real cooperation of the north-atlantic civilisation with ather civilsation centers of the world bring much prosperous life everywhere. your nation is innovative, swift and lose a lot in military projects.

have a nice day, chris!

Abadi is nothing more then a US dog

John Brown

He is doing a balancing act for now as is Turkey. It is the right thing to do for now until ISIS is wiped out and the Iraqi armed forces and economy become stronger and are prepared for an economic embargo like Qatar is having.

Igor Dano

John, Iraq is still under the UN embargo & only US is “allowed” to deal with Iraq in unrestricted way ( like technology, telecoms, exploration and drilling e. Power….) Means Iraq is completly a us colony.

George King

Tillerson described the Iraqi Popular Mobilization Units (PMU) as “Iranian militants” and said they have to go home. The PMU is made up of Iraqi citizens and is not completely Shia but Turkmen and Sunni participate as well in the PMU.

Now as for foreign combatants that need to go home it is a case of the pot calling the kettle black. I wonder if Tillerson practiced this in front of the mirror, if not he should have to put things in perspective with “foreigners need to go home”.

SUB-CIPHER

Yeah! You tell em’ Tillerson… Send those damn Iraqi’s back to Iran!

goingbrokes

At least Iran has a vital interest in a neighbouring country. US is located on the other side of the world and has no reason to be in Iraq, other than rape and pillage.

Cheryl Brandon

Tillerson, instead of lecturing to Iraq, you should be setting the example by taking your killers in army uniforms plus your armed/trained and funded terrorists first. You are not the Head of Iraq or owner of Iraq! Iraqis and Syrians and Hezbollah are not children, you can tell them when. how and how long to be with their neighbours; You are not arab! Get out of Arab business! Uou are not islamic; get out of the people’s business;YTry to sort of USA; Iraq and Syria and Hezbollah did not elect you but, you were appointed by USA. 4years on Americans in Michigan still have no access to clean /bug free pipeborne water. Help out your folks in Florida and Huston and Puerto Rico.

Langaniso Mhlobo

USA oppress its close neighbours.Have great interests in Arab oil and has.Minds to much about other countries business.

Bolter10

And Exxon and pals should stay out of Middle east, oops sorry Tillerson arent you one of them?

John Panelli

Abadi DEMANDS that all Israelis immediately leave the United States. Abadi said that all Israelis currently in the US are Zionist militants and must go home. . .
