On August 30, the Iraqi Air Force (IQAF) launched a series of airstrikes against terror targets in the central province of Saladin.
The airstrikes targeted a cell of ISIS, the air force said in a statement, adding that four hideouts were destroyed and three terrorists were killed.
The IQAF released footage of the pinpoint airstrikes which were carried out by F-16IQ fighter jets using precision-guided munitions, most likely with GBU-12 Paveway II bombs.
The air force stepped up its operations against ISIS in recent weeks. A series of airstrikes destroyed a hideout of the terrorist group cells in Wadi al-Chai, a valley located in the southern part of the northern province of Kirkuk, on August 15. The next day, August 16, a second series of airstrikes hit a hideout of the group to the west of Tuz Khurma. At least six terrorists were killed in the airstrikes.
Later on August 23, several terrorists were killed when a series of airstrikes hit another hideout of ISIS near the city of Tuz Khurma.
Iraq announced the defeat of ISIS in 2017. However, the terrorist group’s cells are still active in most of the country, including the central region.
