On June 7, F-16 warplanes of the Iraqi Air Force destroyed an ISIS command center killing terrorists inside it, the Iraqi military said in a statement.
“The air raid was ordered by Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi based on accurate intelligence reports to eliminate the Islamic State threat coming from Syria,” the statement said, according to Iraqi website Baghdad Today.
This was the fifth airstrikes by the Iraqi Air Force on ISIS targets in Syria since late April. All the airstrikes were aimed at ISIS positions in the Euphrates River and near the Syrian-Iraqi border, on the eastern bank of the Euphrates.
The Iraqi Air Force has got an approval to carry out these strikes from the Syrian government. The Iraqi military also coordinates its actions in Syria with the US-led coalition.
