On March 7, F-16 of the Iraqi Air Force carried out three airstrikes on a group of ISIS terrorists that was moving on Bilkanah mount in the central Iraqi province of Saladin.
In a statement, the Iraqi Security Media Cell said that the airstrikes were carried out based on information provided by the Iraqi National Intelligence Service.
A day after the airstrikes, a force from the Counter Terrorism Service (CTS) carried out a combing operation on Bikanah mount. The dead bodies of three terrorists were found by the force, along with a motorcycle, weapons, communication devices and documents of ISIS. The force blew up several caves on the mount which were apparently used by the terrorists as hideouts.

The airstrikes on Bilkanah mount were the most recent in a series of Iraqi counter-terrorism operations that has been ongoing for several weeks now.
At least 17 terrorists of ISIS were eliminated by the CTS during a special operation near the town of Akashat in the western province of al-Anbar on February 26. Later on March 2, the Iraqi military eliminated three terrorists, including a senior ISIS commander, during a preemptive operation in the city of Heet in al-Anbar.
The recent operations inflicted some losses on ISIS cells and limited their ability to launch attacks. Despite this, the terrorist group’s insurgency in Iraq will likely go on for the rest of the year and beyond.
