On February 17, Iraqi Air Force (IQAF) fighter jets targeted a hideout of ISIS located in the Hamrin mountain chain in the northern Iraqi province of Kirkuk with several airstrikes.
The Iraqi Security Media Cell said in a statement that the IQAF carried out the airstrikes in coordination with the Federal Intelligence and Investigation Agency. According to the cell, at least three terrorists were killed in the airstrikes.
The IQAF released footage of the deadly airstrikes, which were carried out by F-16 fighter jets with precision-guided munitions.
The Iraqi military stepped up counter-terrorism operations in recent days. On February 12, ISIS Wali [governor] in the eastern province of Diyala was killed in a series of airstrikes which were carried out by the IQAF. Later on February 16, a three-man cell of ISIS which was planning to attack Shiite pilgrims was eliminated in the town of Tarmiyah, some 50 kilometers to the north of Baghdad, by a commando unit.
Despite these efforts, ISIS cells are still fairly active in Iraq’s western, northern and eastern regions as well as near Baghdad. The Iraqi military, intelligence and security forces will need much more time, possibly years, to put an end to the terrorist group’s insurgency in the country.
Big expensive resources to kill 3 worthless Islamists.
Recommends that they rather bomb mosques where the Islamists are concentrated.
Lol, must be 1 Billion Isis leaders, seems they kill 2 or 3 per day. USA fix your homeless problems!
