The Iraqi Joint Operations Room announced on Wednesday that Iraqi forces have liberated 50% of the key Old Mosul area in western Mosul.

According to the Joint Operations Room, ISIS fighters now control only 8 streets in Old Mosul. Iraqi forces have liberated the Hatar Al-Sadah and Al-Hamidiya districts.
Government troops have also discovered an ISIS arms depot in Old Mosul.

ISIS claimed that its fighters managed to capture new positions in the Al-Mushahada area in Old Mosul following a series of clashes with Iraqi SWAT forces.
ISIS fighters targeted Iraqi forces at the Corniche Street with a non-recoil SPG-9 rifle.
ISIS also announced that eight Iraqi soldiers were killed by friendly fire as they were targeted by US-led coalition warplanes at the medical compound in Al-Shifa district of Mosul.
16 fighters from the Popular Mobilization Units (PMU) were wounded or killed en route to Baghdad. Their bus was attacked by militants believed to be from ISIS in Ain al-Jash village. According to eyewitnesses, the militants were stationed on the roofs of civilian buildings.

Ain al-Jash was liberated six months ago, but it appears that ISIS cells still operate inside it.
Iraqi Air Force warplanes dropped leaflets warning civilians in the Hawija area west of Kirkuk. The Iraqi Army asked civilians to stay indoors and away from ISIS positions, as it appears to be preparing to launch an operation to liberate the area from ISIS.
