The Iraqi forces managed to open the road from Ramadi to Baghdad, which passed through al-Khaldiya to the army base of Habbaniya.
On Tuesday, the Iraqi army said in a statement that Iraqi forces have liberated several areas from ISIS including a strategic connecting road from the western city of Ramadi to a military base in the capital Baghdad.
The Iraqi army said that the Iraqi forces managed to open the road from Ramadi to Baghdad, which passed through al-Khaldiya to the army base of Habbaniya.
The statement also said that the army units had also recaptured several other terrorist held areas including the town of Husaiba al-Sharqiya which was situated about 10 kilometers east of Ramadi.
The provincial capital Ramadi fell under ISIS terrorists grip in 2014. In December last year, Ramadi was liberated by the Iraqi forces.
