Iraqi Army troops have liberated the Al-Matahen district in western Mosul. This was the first real achievement of the Iraqi Army in western Mosul in weeks. We recall the Iraqi military’s advance had been suspended in western Mosul because of an intense resistance of ISIS and huge numbers of civilians stuck inside the ISIS-held area.
From its side, ISIS announced responsibility for two SVBIED attack on SWAT forces in Yarmouk district and claimed that 12 Iraqi soldiers had been killed and 10 armored vehicles had been destroyed during the attacks.

The ISIS-linked news agency Amaq also published photos showing the mortar shelling of Iraqi Army positions in the Saa’dya area northeast of Ba’kouba.
On Sunday, the Popular Mobilization Units foiled an infiltration attempt in the province of Salah al-Din. Pro-PMU sources argue that Iraqi fighters killed the entire ISIS assault group.
The PMU repulsed another ISIS attack in the vicinity of Tal Afar near Hassani hill and kasser Mehrab. The bad weather had delayed the PMU’s long anticipated offensive in Tal Afar’s outskirts.
Members of the PMU evacuated a group of families escaping from the ISIS-held area of Mosul and provided a humanitarian assistance to them.
