After receiving credible intelligence information about the terrorist plot, a force of the Iraqi military seized two Katyusha [107 mm] rockets and other military equipment, which were prepared for the attack, in the district of Tarmiyah to the north of Baghdad city .
In a related development, a joint force of the Iraqi military and the federal police arrested three suspected terrorists in the districts of Karkh and Rusafa in Baghdad city.
“The suspects and the seized requirements were handed over to the authorities to complete the legal procedures against them,” the Baghdad Operations Command said in a statement.

Over the last few years, several rocket attacks targeted bases of the US-led coalition and the US embassy in Baghdad’s highly-guarded Green Zone. Pro-Iranian factions claimed responsibility for some of these attacks. However, the denied involvement in many others, including the January 28 rocket attack on Baghdad International Airport.
In fact, pro-Iranian factions warned from provocations by US allies in Iraq following the January 13 Baghdad rocket attack and the alleged January 15 drone attack on Balad Air Base.
US allies in Iraq have been blaming pro-Iranian factions for all recent security incidents in the country without even acknowledging the threat posed by ISIS. These accusations appear to be an attempt to justify a permanent US military presence in the country.
