Late on November 21, the Islamic Resistance in Iraq (IRI), an umbrella group of Iran-backed armed factions, announced that it had carried out a drone attack against a “military target” in southern Israel.

The attack was carried out “in response to the massacres committed by the usurping entity [Israel] against civilians, including children, women, and the elderly” in the Gaza Strip and Lebanon, the group said in a statement, vowing that “operations against enemy strongholds will continue at an increasing pace.”

The group also released a video showing the launch of what appears to be a single Iranian-made Shahed-101 suicide drone.

The Shahed-101 is said to have a range of 900 kilometers and a cruising speed of 120 kilometers per hour with a warhead weighing eight kilograms.

Prior to the IRI’s announcement, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) announced that warning sirens were activated in the Mitzpe Ramon area in the Negev desert after a suspected drone entered Israeli airspace. The military later said that the incident was over, and there were no reports of injuries.

Hebrew media said that the drone might have crashed in an open area. The IDF was reportedly investigating what exactly happened.

The IRI began carrying out attacks against Israel as well as against United States forces in Iraq and neighboring Syria last October in response to the Israeli all-out war on Gaza. The group escalated its attacks against Israel in September in response to Israel’s ongoing aerial campaign and ground operations against Hezbollah in Lebanon.

Earlier this week, Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar called on the United Nations Security Council to pressure Baghdad to end attacks by Iran-backed factions, warning that Israel has the right to defend itself under the UN Charter.

Later, Arab media reported that the U.S. had informed Baghdad that Israeli strikes against Iraq were “imminent,” unless the Iraqi government manages to prevent Iran-backed factions from launching attacks against Israel. The IRI was not apparently fazed by these threats.

in today’s ‘south front’ comment sections, an unusual blend of artistic and autistic antics is on full display. our comrade ‘snowden’, hiding behind multiple aliases, is performing a monkey act while spamming the forum with nonsensical statements and nato rhetoric (often one and the same). kindly avoid tossing bananas. thanks for your understanding.

whatever respect the world had for the american government was lost in the gaza genocide and ukraine war. this marks a low point on the downward spiral globalism has taken the world. israel and zionism have become a curse on civilization itself.
