Iraqi Forces Take Back Sinjar Town As Peshmerga Withdraws From It

Support SouthFront

The separatist Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) headed by its president Masoud Barzani is facing hard times in northern Iraq.

On October 17, KRG forces withdrew from the Yazidi-populated town of Sinjar. Iraqi forces embedded with Yazidi members of the Popular Mobilization Units (PMU) entered Sinjar from the direction of Tal Qasif and Tal Banat and established control over the town as well as nearby points.

On October 18, the Iraqi Army and the PMU restored control over the city of Kirkuk and its southern and western surroundings, which had been controlled by KRG forces. (More details about the  situation here)

Commander of Yazidi PMU members is in Sinjar’s town-hall:

iraqi news getting better after kirkuk https://www.rt.com/news/406917-kirkuk-video-iraqi-troops-incursion/

Daniel Castro

Interesting to see how many kurd civilians had gone to Kirkuk to steal land and resources that was not theirs, that speak volumes about this people. If they really believed they were entitled to that land and they were not doing anything wrong they wouldn’t have ran at the first sight of the rightful owners coming to take back their property.

Thieves and liars.

Bru

Indeed, just look at how they butchered the Armenians to steal their lands.

Lasse Riise

And Ankara has still NOT apologised for it. Very shameful indèed.

Beverley Helson

Hoping to do same in Raqqa.just move in and keep citizens off out in the desert or dead…ring any bells re Israhell v Palestinians

Lasse Riise

You are very evil and hateful. It’s cruel of You to ask Israelis to move in and whipe out the Palestinians.

Lasse Riise

Actually, Kurds have lived in the Kêrkuk area for centuries. Many minorities live in this region.

Daniel Castro

Ancient history do not matter.

The question is, those lands they were occupying were theirs, they were registered in their names?

No?

Then they were stealing.

χρηστος

i think the Kurds ,at least some of them gave realised that a war with Iraq is useless. What they need is not a bloody victory but cooperation with Iraq for mutual benefit. They have oil that they cannot transport anywhere unless their neighbours let them. SO of what use is black gold if you cannot sell-export? maybe they will put up a fight in a small scale ,in a village of minor importance that is near their lands, just to show that they mean business …..but thats it…..

Richard M

Daesh exported oil in miles long convoys of tankers. Convoys protected and escorted by Obama’s Air Force, and welcomed to Sultan Erdogan’s Ottoman Empire.

Solomon Krupacek

two times you will not enter the same river.

χρηστος

indeed but the Kurds arent friends with Turkey

Richard M

Doing business does not require friendship.

χρηστος

i disagree. we are talking about Turkey and Kurdistan (given the fact that, stated with the referendum as well, Kurds want their own Country), a nightmare for Turkey. if we see such a thing i would expect then that palestinians and isreal will live hapilly ever after….

Lasse Riise

This is a very resillient myth. Kurdish self-rule in both Iraq and Syria will prove to be a true blessing for Turkey. It will be the safety-valve that eases tension in the entire region. Unfourtanly, some very corrupt leaders have a highly personal self-interest in consealing this fact. Putting the people up against eachother will take the attention away from leaders stealing all the wealth from their own people.

χρηστος

well you have a point there but if you take a look at the maps that indicate Kurdistan (lands that have majority Kurdish population) you will se that a very large part is in Turkey. well i dont think that Turkish-kurds will settle for a Syrian and iraqi kurdistan. they are the ones that paid in tons of blood for their independence.

Lasse Riise

Which is very sad. They prevent eachother from progressing. Ordinary Turks and Kurds needs reconsiliation very badly. Sadly, it looks like this still will take many Years, since there are too many within the cynical elite in Ankara only caring about stuffing their own pockets with belongings stolen from the people. Corruption is very bad indèed.

χρηστος

its in the dna of human kind i think, its obvious. always fighting ….progress is of no importance….put some CIA, weapons sales etc. in the dna mix as well and there you have it.

Lasse Riise

The so called black gold will gradualy loose its value anywhay. Modern technological research on renewables spells a very bad future for all oil-junkies in the Middle East.

χρηστος

well yes but it will take decades for that.

Attention for commenters with mantra of “PMU is sectarian”:

Yazidi members of PMU entered their ancestral home and liberated it from occupation.

Serious Dude

Peshmerga retreated? I thought that they were “proxies” of Zionists to kill Iraqis and not to fight ISIS.

Garga

More or less you though right.

Some of Peshmerga factions fall in what you described. Kurdish parties are in direct control of their own Peshmerga factions, so it depends on the party’s policies and decision. You are wrong about killing Iraqis. Although it could happen as a byproduct of land grab.

Serious Dude

You haven’t mentioned the ironic way that I have told all these.

Garga

Sarcastic you mean. I got it but at the moment it suited me to ignore it completely. ;)

Beverley Helson

Deals done with Turkey and Iran

Solomon Krupacek

UNserious KURDude

Floyd Hazzard

They committed political suicide. Their hummer jeeps are no match for T90 tanks with the surrounding airspace closed and they have no airforce. I won’t be surprised if they are forced back to semi-autonomy as opposed to full autonomy. They have shown everyone who they really are. Baghdad shouldn’t empower a neighbour intent on stealing their lands and oil. It should control the International points of entry and limit the caliber and types of pershmerga weapons.

Serious Dude

I happen to agree with you.

Lasse Riise

Although parts of the KRG leadership have conducted themselves badly, it will be very wrong to punish the entire people for the misconduct of some of their leaders. In addition, the Iraqi Constitution secures the self-governed autonomy of the Kurdish region. The Iraqi Constitution was legally approved by in a plebicite by a majority of the entire Iraqi people.

Wahid Algiers

Sarcastic comment, yes. But are you sure that Peshmerga retreated or run away. There were no tactics, only escape. they left their wounded behind who were then provided by iraqi paramedics.

Serious Dude

Yes

Free Syria

Hahah PKK took over most of sinjar.

Garga

I’m sure you’re right. That’s why the people are so happy in Rabi’ah, north of Sinjar: http://iswnews.com/5408/%d9%88%db%8c%d8%af%db%8c%d9%88-%d8%b4%d8%a7%d8%af%db%8c-%d9%88%db%8c%da%98%d9%87-%d8%b3%d8%a7%d8%b9%d8%a7%d8%aa%db%8c-%d9%be%db%8c%d8%b4-%d9%85%d8%b1%d8%af%d9%85-%d8%b4%d9%87%d8%b1-%d8%b1%d8%a8%db%8c/

Wagner schmit

Raibiah is not part of sinjar.

Garga

No, it’s not. But it’s on the way of PKK between Syria and Iraq.

Lasse Riise

In the late 1950’s, the Rabia district was a fully integrated part of the Sinjar region. Later, Saddam decided to relocate many such local districts.

Trustin Judeau

Also the Peshmerga have withdrawn from Bashiqa and from many areas –

https://twitter.com/iraq_day/status/920195178446680064 . .

MH370

some fuck off european here claimed all in PMU are shiite. there you go a shit on your face.

as

Not written here that Barzani ordered peshmerga to fight in spite of their disadvantage. They also advised to keep close with civilian supporting them.

Wahid Algiers

Just remembered the time when the lousy kurds left the Yazidis back alone without any weapons when ISIS overwhelmed this area…..

as

They even purposely asks Yazidis not to arms themselves.

Garga

Right. They promised to protect them and confiscated their weapons and then fled in the middle of the night. They wanted this area to be cleared of Yazidis and let the ISIS do this dirty work.

In Sinjar, more than 3,000 murdered and 6,000 went into captivity by ISIS. In a village named “Kocho” with 1,500 population, ISIS killed about 400 (men) and took the rest as captives. Even after Peshmerga took Sinjar from ISIS, they prevented the remaining Yezidis to return to their homes. They even prevented humanitarian aids to this area.

Yezidis will remember it to the end of the world.

Lasse Riise

It’s a historical fact that the Peshmerga first did prevent the Yêziditis from arming themselves, Before they abandoned them into the hands of the “Islamic State” (IS).

TiredOfBsToo

Yeah, the noble and humanitarian Peshmerga abandoned the Yazidis to genocide and enslavement but, they didn’t forget to grab land and oil. No wonder Israel loves them so much; they act tribal and greedy against anyone not in their tribe.

Wahid Algiers

These thiefing kurds are as typical to themselves as the hebrews/jews are.
