Kata’ib Hezbollah (KH) has received short and medium range rockets through Syria, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported on January 29.
The London-based monitoring group said that at least 56 rockets entered Syria through a number of unofficial border crossings with Iraq. The rockets were hidden in civilian trucks.
KH fighters received the shipment in the outskirts of the town of al-Tebni in the northern countryside of Deir Ezzor. The SOHR didn’t provide any details on the type or origins of the rockets.
KH is a key part of the Iraqi Popular Mobilization Units. The group has been active in Syria since the early years of the war. Currently, KH maintains a fairly large force in Deir Ezzor to counter ISIS cells and secure the border line with Iraq.
The US claims that KH, which is backed by Iran, was behind a number of attacks on its troops and diplomatic mission in Iraq. Some of the attacks attributed to the group resulted in casualties.
The group’s leader and founder Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis was assassinated along with Iran’s Quds Force Commander Qassim Soleimani by the US more than a year ago.
The SOHR claims are yet to be verified by another source. In anycase, such reports are designed to provoke more tensions between the US and Iran.
All this bullshit would not be necessary if Russia/China as UNSC veto-enabled members would’ve reached a deal to place nukes in Iran instead of backing UN sanctions on Iran in 2007, rather than simply negotiating more “business and partnership” and “unity” like they do everytime Putin/Xi visit the WEF at Davos.
