On Friday, the Popular Mobilization Units (PMU) liberated Jaber Galfas village on the Syrian-Iraqi border. On Saturday, the PMU continued advancing to capture Al-Safouk border village west of Al-Ba’aj town. Al-Safouk is considered one of the most important ISIS supply lines between Syria and Iraq.
In the course of its advance, the PMU managed to repel an attack of ISIS militants on the Syrian-Iraqi border, killing nine ISIS militants, including a field commander, Hassan Kanash al-Zubaid. The PMU also destroyed three ISIS VBIEDs.
4,500 civilians were evacuated from areas surrounding Al-Ba’aj.
ISIS fighters destroyed a Humvee and a bulldozer belonging to the PMU with ATGMs in southwestern Sinjar.
ISIS also claimed destroying a PMU headquarters in the Alexandria area north of Babil. According to ISIS,of three PMU fighters were killed in the attack.
The Iraqi Army fully secured the Saha district on the right side of Mosul city. In turn, ISIS militants destroyed an Iraqi Army bulldozer in the Zinjili district.
ISIS also targeted a group of Iraqi forces in Zanjili district with a VBIED. ISIS claimed that its snipers managed to kill 7 Iraqi soldiers.
