On January 24, the Iraqi Popular Mobilization Units (PMU) launched a military operation in order to secure the road between Tukrit and Mosul.
Pro-governnment sources reported that the goal is liberate villages along that road which is now controlled by ISIS terrorists. The area between Hawija and Kirkuk will be the first target of the PMU’s efforts.
Earlier this week, PMU forces already retook control of the villages of Jaber Huweidi, Hindi, Admana and Fayyad al-Thalj along the Tikrit-Mosul road.
