On November 17, the Iraqi Popular Mobilization Units (PMU) announced that its units in the western province of al-Anbar have struck ISIS fighters in the Syrian town of al-Baghuz al-Fawqani in the middle Euphrates River Valley.
“After receiving accurate intelligence, the PMU’s rocket forces targeted a gathering of ISIS in the area of al-Baghuz al-Fawqani on the Syrian side,” the PMU media center quoted Kassem Musleh, commander of the PMU’s operations in western Anbar as saying.
According to Musleh, the PMU has reinforced its positions along the Syrian-Iraqi border recently in order to prevent ISIS fighters from sneaking into Iraq territory.
ISIS reimposed control of al-Baghuz al-Fawqani and other Syrian towns in the Euphrates Valley in late October after a series of attacks against US-backed forces. This allowed the terrorist group to reach the Syrian-Iraqi border once again, which forced the PMU and the Iraqi military to step up their presence in the strategic area.
Expect the US to start complaining about Iranian militias in Iraq tomorrow. You touch American forces(ISIS) and the yanks get upset.
Crap again. Those milisias has been there for years. So far both coalision and Iranian forces mainly are needed but not wished.
Iraq might collapse again witout them. The US or rather ´coalision forces hardly has any troops there. As own example danes er about 220. Those has a big standard radar, making better logistics for internet and mobile phones as well as training small unit tactics and less bullet wasting.
We are small. Many others are there having more soldiers then us.
The US told Iraq to put those PMU militias there since they’re experienced ISIS fighters and were needed because the SAA only had token control of that region west of the Euphrates, where they stayed inside their garrisons while ISIS roamed freely out in the desert.
lol america is fighting against isis you moron !
