On April 22, two convoys moving supplies for the US-led coalition in the central Iraqi province of Babylon came under attack.
The first convoy was hit by an improvised explosive device (IED) as it was passing on Babylon highway. A few minutes later, the second convoy was targeted with an IED while moving in the area of Jableh.
No casualties were reported as a result of the attacks. This is typical, as these attacks are only meant to inflict material losses on US forces.
The attacks were most certainly carried out by pro-Iranian factions, which vowed to expel US forces from Iraq following the assassination of Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, Deputy-Commander of Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Units, and Commander of Iran’s Quds Force, Qassim Soleimani.
So far, Iraqi resistance forces have attacked dozens of US supply convoys across the country. Most of the attacks took place in the provinces of al-Qadisiyyah and Babylon as well as in the outskirts of the capital Baghdad.
The US-led coalition has not yet responded to the attacks on its supply convoys in Iraq, likely to avoid further escalation by pro-Iranian factions.
Proud warriors have sugar in the fuel tank of enemy vehicles. Gets too dangerous to kill enemy soldiers.
