On October 30, Islamic Resistance in Iraq – ‘Ashab al-Kahf issued a mysterious threat to the British secret service and several European intelligence agencies.
In a short post on its official channel on Telegram, the pro-Iranian Shia armed group called on the United Kingdom’s Secret Intelligence Service, commonly known as MI6, to stop operations at its station in Iraq.
“Mi6 station in Iraq, stop or…” the post reads.
Minutes later, the group made a second post calling on the intelligence agencies of France, Germany, Sweden, Belgium and the Netherlands to halt their “malicious activities” in Iraq and what it described as the “Axis of Islam”. The group warned the said agencies that they will see “what they don’t like” if they go on with their activities.
‘Ashab al-Kahf is one of several pro-Iranian groups in Iraq that came into the spotlight after the assassination of Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, Deputy-Commander of Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Units, and Commander of Iran’s Quds Force, Qassim Soleimani, by the United States more than two years ago.
The group has already carried out dozens of attacks against U.S.-led coalition forces across Iraq. Its members are highly-experienced in asymmetrical warfare and intelligence operations.
The motive behind ‘Ashab al-Kahf threats remains unclear. However, it could be related to the ongoing mass protests in Iran.
Iran continues to face protests since the September death of Mahsa Amini. The 22-year-old Kurdish woman died after she was detained by the morality police for wearing an improper hijab. Recently, Tehran accused British and European intelligence agencies of supporting the protests, which have so far claimed the lives of dozens of Iranians. Many of these agencies maintain stations in Iraq.
‘Ashab al-Kahf and other similar Shia armed groups may be planning to take action against foreign intelligence agencies trying to inflame the situation in Iran from Iraq.
It’s worth noting that Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps attacked several Kurdish opposition groups in the Iraqi Kurdistan Region days after the beginning of the protests in September. The targeted groups were trying to start an insurgency inside Iran, allegedly with support from the United States intelligence.

It’s goofy you speak about Islam and Muslims yet you use the fake name followed by Arabic writing.
