Iraqi ‘Resistance’ Respond To ISIS Last Massacre By Attacking Two US Convoys Near Baghdad

Illustrative image.

On October 28, two convoys moving logistic supplies and equipment for the US-led coalition came under attack near the Iraqi capital, Baghdad.

The first convoy was targeted in al-Moshahda, while the second came under attack in Tarmiyah. Both convoys were most likely targeted with improvised explosive devices.

The pro-Iranian al-Muhandis Revenge Brigade has allegedly claimed responsibility for both attacks. The newly-formed group is named after deputy commander of the Iraqi Popular Mobilization Units Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis who was killed in a US drone strike along with Iranian Quds Force commander Qasem Soleimani in 2020.

According to the Tura News channel on Telegram, which is close to pro-Iranian forces in Iraq, the attacks were carried out in response to ISIS recent attack on the Shiite area of al-Miqdadiyah. At least 14 people were killed in the attack.

The al-Muhandis Revenge Brigade have reportedly codenamed the attacks on the US-led coalition’s supply convoys “al-Miqdadiyah Martyrs’ Revenge” in honor of the massacre’s victims.

Pro-Iranian forces in Iraq believe that US military presence is empowering ISIS, thus the US-led coalition is, in their opinion, responsible for the terrorist group’s increasing attacks.

Despite facing more and more pressure from pro-Iranian forces, the US remains determined to keep its forces in Iraq for the foreseeable future.

That is right. Hit the snake in the head.

What happened to the good discus system of answers and replies back? I don’t know how to check any replies to me. Is it even allowed to do that?

Jnoub

I get my email notifications 2 hours later. I wish they had a better system, oh well.

What have these attacks achieved . We haven’t heard of a convoy being attacked recently because …. totally ineffective … haven’t happened … the US stopped these convoys in fear of them being attacked. … Usual story , no drivers killed which would put some fear into the others or no trucks damaged apart from superficial scratches and extra dust. So nothing changes and the supply convoys continue unabated with no escorts or protection because the attacks are nothing more than the sound of a fly buzzing around in the room somewhere. It might make those involved feel great but feeling great doesn’t win the war , nor does a thousand of these attacks that do little to no damage make the Yanks safely ensconced inside their base beg to go home.

Yes they must be using fireworks instead of a thousand kilo bomb full of nuts and bolts, then there wouldn’t be anything left of the convoy except a greasy spot.

Peter Wallace

Yes I think in a number of those videos it showed the blast quite some distance from the trucks. Being a crude device it has minimal effect . They need to work out better methods that have some effect. Obviously using an ATGM or RPG or even a boosted claymore would be nice but that may expose the person delivering it. Even a remote controlled toy to deliver a blast underneath the cab would do more damage. A 1 tonne bomb would rattle a few windows but making one and or getting it into place is another story. I was heavy truck convoy commander in Rhodesia for a period and we lost the odd truck on occasions and got shot up a number of times but it never stopped tomorrows convoy. This in comparison is pathetic.

Cromwell

Culverts under the road are best,or even a truck or car bomb near the road radio controlled.

Icarus Tanović

If you add Napalm to that, not even greasy spot.

As long as the attacks continue, all is well. The ameroswine will eventually leave humiliated, see Afghanistan.
