Iran-backed armed factions in Iraq said on October 1 that if the United States takes part in “any hostile action” against Iran then American interests in the Middle East will be under threat.
In a brief statement, the Coordination Committee for the Iraqi Resistance also warned Israel against using Iraqi airspace to launch an attack against, saying “all American bases and interests in Iraq and the region will be our target.”
The statement was released right after Iran launched a large-scale attack against Israel with some 200 ballistic missiles, targeting several key intelligence and military bases across the country and sending around ten million people into bomb shelters.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned after the attack on Tehran that it had made “a big mistake” and “will pay for it.”
From its side, Iran warned that any attack by Israel will be met with an even stronger reaction. Iranian media even reported that Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei had already green-lighted retaliatory strikes on Israeli infrastructure.
The Coordination Committee for the Iraqi Resistance is believed to be the body responsible for decision making for the Islamic Resistance in Iraq (IRI), which has been launching attacks against both Israel and U.S. forces in the region since the outbreak of the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip last October.
On October 2 alone, the IRI announced that it had struck three targets in northern Israel with suicide drones in support of both Gaza and Lebanon.
The Iraqi threat could complicate Israeli plans to retaliate and even force the U.S. to limit any plans to aid an attack on Tehran.
It’s worth noting that Israel reportedly violated Iraqi airspace while launching a limited retaliatory strike against Iran following the April missile attack.

that may be true, but it also might be true that iran has been preparing for such an eventuality. they haven’t been creating and practicing with anti-sub weapons for no reason. plus, those missiles are not infallible and are very much open to interception. a question as to their ability to penetrate iran’s defenses would be predicated on what iran may have received from russia.
those carrier groups are the most vulnerable of all us platforms. yeah, they look tough, but even 1 hypersonic missile can deliver a death blow. let us not forget just how those pentagram war games conducted by the us failed miserably in a confrontation with iran. this was years ago when iran had nowhere near the capability they have now. do you have any other questions?
yes, i do have another question : how does the us plan to defend the various military bases they have in the region and all the oil fields in qatar, uae, saudi, bahrain, etc if they could not defend israel yesterday? do you really think biden wants to see us soldiers coming back in bodybags just before the elections?
i don’t think that russia or axis of resistance forces are serious about eliminating stupid empire forward operating bases as long as they don’t impede an operation such as the iran missile launch. americans are repeating the same exact folly of overextension the roman empire committed — and they are not about to interrupt their enemy while it makes mistakes, in the famous words of napoleon bonaparte.
that said, i agree that they are likely and valid targets. my point is only that, up to now, russia seems very cynical about america’s ability to project power. and rightly so.
