On March 14, Iraqi Security Forces (ISF) continued a military operation in order to retake Mosul’s Old City from the ISIS terrorist group.
ISF retook the Nineveh Railway Station from ISIS terrorists in the neighborhood of Mosul al-Jadida located west of Mosul’s Old City.
In a separate development, ISF units captured the so-called “old bridge”, the neighborhoods of Bab al-Jadid and Bab al-Bid in western Mosul.
Meanwhile, Iraq’s Federal Police Chief Lt. Gen. Shaker Jawdat said in a statement that ISF had recaptured about 90 percent of the Old City.
Mosul’s Old City is a high populated area which is a major ISIS stronghold. If ISF recapture it, Iraqi forces will become much closer to the full liberation of western Mosul.
