Support SouthFront

Iraqi security forces (ISF) have arrested a senior ISIS member and his aide in a successful air landing operation in the province of Anbar, the Iraqi Counter-Terrorism Service said in a statement.

According to the statement, its troops carried out a successful air landing operation and detained two terrorists. One of them was the so-called desert emir of ISIS, Saab Abdullah al-Issawi. He was responsible for preparing ISIS car bombs used in attacks on military and civilian targets.

Recently, ISF has intensified its counter-terrorism efforts against remaining ISIS cells operating in northern Iraq. On March 27, ISF killed six ISIS militants in the Hawija area in the province of Kirkuk. On March 18, ISF conducted a successful operation against ISIS cells in the Hawija area southwest of the city of Kirkuk securing 14 villages.

Best news I’ve heard all day. I do wish the US would take less of a backseat in the fight against ISIS since the our allies are proving unreliable.

FlorianGeyer

The US is re-training ISIS at Al Tanf and Hassakah . The US is a large part of the problem of terrorism in Iraq,Syria and elsewhere around the globe.

The US follows the doctrine of Controlling the Cause, Effect and Cure.

Terra Cotta Woolpuller

War for profit is the key words and simplest doctrine they follow !!

Smaug

This is not a joking matter.

FlorianGeyer

I am not joking. The evidence is there for all with eyes to see.

Many if not most members of the latest group to be formed and armed by the US in the Kurdish occupied area of Deir Ezzor are past Arab ISIS fighters from the area who defected earlier this year. The new outfit is called the SFA.

Not much imagination I know, but the US Military are not renown for that.

Smaug

You are either a conspiracy theorist or a Russian sycophant (I’ll bet onthe former). Go away, no one cares what you think.

FlorianGeyer

Just look at the evidence of the long history of US involvement with world terrorism Smaug. Even in the violent coup in Guatamala in 1953.

I suspect that few really care what you think.

As an aside, your ‘like to comment ‘ ratio is currently 1.3 My ‘Like to comment’ ratio is currently 2.8

So, currently more people consider your opinions to be complete bollocks. Smaug.

You are sounding like Gavin Williamson. FYI – F.G. has been commenting here for years and generally of high quality. Who are you to tell him to go away or that no one cares. Actually a lot of people care what he says. Try to lift up your game and stop being a mug. Anyone who cares to look under appearances will see that US hands are dirty all over the place. Without US Daesh would be a bunch of crazy guys in a basement planning pointless attack against the infidel – the rest of the world.

Smaug

‘High quality’ appears to be code meaning you agree with him (in your communications anyway). Your statement indicates that a sort of cyber-gang controls this forum, but I don’t care.

Sinbad2

ISIS sprang from the Sunni death squads General Patreaus created for his so called surge, they have always worked closely with the US military.

Sinbad2

The US will get custody of these terrorists, and release them.

Smaug

If it were up to me I’d draft you.

Sinbad2

I did 6 years before the mast little boy.

Smaug

Liar.

Great stuff! Keep up the pressure.

Iraq’s PMF (Shia Militias were always a good force – the real force that saved Iraq and liberated the Sunni regions in Daesh control). Iraq’s Special forces are also good. The Iraqi army and airforce wasn’t good before 2014 but after the defeat of ISIS has emerged as the strongest Arab national army in the world.

But they lack one EXTREEEEEMELEY important thing till now: A ridiculously good intelligence agency. This is what Iraq needs first and foremost.
