The Iraqi Special Operations Forces eliminated a senior ISIS commander along with three of his aides in a successful air landing operation in Hamrin Mountains on April 14.
“Based on info from the Iraqi National Intelligence Service the Counter Terrorism Service targeted and eliminates the so-called Hamrin Mountains military governor of Daesh [ISIS],” Brigadier Yahya Rasool, a spokesman for the Iraqi Security Media Cell, said in a press release.
The spokesman also revealed that the operation was supported by warplanes of the Iraqi Air Force (IQAF) and the US-led coalition.
Iraqi sources identified the dead ISIS commander as Mohammed Salman Dawod. According to the sources, Dawod was commanding ISIS cells operations in the provinces of Diyala and Saladin in central and eastern Iraq.
The Iraqi Special Operations Forces’ successful raid is another major blow to the remaining ISIS members in Iraq. The terrorist group’s activities decreased throughout Iraq recently as a result of the Iraqi authorities’ efforts.
Looks like Iraq is ‘on the ball’ at kicking Daesh’s butts, unlike their Syrian neighbours!
That’s simply not true, the ISIS commander is happily munching on a cheeseburger in the oval office.
