Amid escalation by the United States, the ground forces of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) on February 24 conducted drills in the southern part of the Islamic Republic and the Persian Gulf islands.
The hybrid drill featured controlled live-fire operations carried out in accordance with the range of various weapons and newly adopted combined tactics, utilizing modern technologies across different operational layers, according to the Tasnim News Agency.
Footage released by Student News Network shows IRGC troops using drones, mortars, and missiles to attack ships off the coast and targets on the shore, while amphibious vehicles carried out drills in the surf.
Notably, among the weapons tested during the drills were Raad-2 and Raad-3 loitering munitions, which have a range of 20 kilometers and 100 kilometers, respectively. Shahid-136 suicide drones with a range of 2,500 kilometers were also used, along side dozens of small first-person view (FPV) quadcopters.
The missiles fired included the Fath 360 tactical ballistic missile, which has a range of 120 kilometers. The guided version of the Fajr-5 heavy artillery rocket, the Fajr-5C, was also fired during the drills. This version is reported to have a range of up to 130 kilometers.
Last week, the naval forces of the IRGC held a military exercise codenamed “Smart Control of the Strait of Hormuz” in the strategic waterway.
These drills came amid major escalation by the U.S., which in recent days bolstered its forces in the Middle East with dozens of warplanes and a second carrier strike group. President Donald Trump has repeatedly threatened Iran with military action, and recent reports suggest that, despite ongoing indirect talks, the current escalation is more likely to end with a war than an agreement.
Trump is said to be considering multiple military options against Iran, and while everything that leaked to the media in recent weeks suggest that any action will be limited to strikes and assassinations, the possibility of ground operations can’t be ruled out.
The latest drills by the ground forces of the IRGC shows that Iran is taking the threat of ground operations, especially raids and landings, very seriously.

i am not sure much will this help iran right now. many nuclear weapons are pointed directly at it ? if any are launched. the us will blame israel. a dire situation for the earth. at least iranians are alive and able to practice today
