IRGC Forces Moved Iranian-Made Ballistic Missiles From Deir Ezzor To Raqqa: Syrian Monitoring Group

A Burkan-2H ballistic missile as seen in a video released by the Houthis’ media wing.

Forces affiliated with Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) had moved Iranian-made ballistic missiles from Deir Ezzor to Raqqa in eastern Syria, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights Reported on September 25.

According to the London-based monitoring group, the missiles were moved from an ammunition depot located in the outskirts of the town of al-Mayadin in southern Deir Ezzor to positions held by Iranian-backed forces near the town of Madan in southeastern Raqqa.

The SOHR said that the missiles were of the Burkan-2H type, a derivative of the Soviet-designed Scud short-range ballistic missile.

This type was developed by the Houthis (Ansar Allah) in Yemen with support from the IRGC. It is very unlikely that missiles of this type were shipped to Syria as the SOHR claims. This casts some serious doubts on the monitoring group’s report.

In the report, the SOHR speculated that the ballistic missiles will be used by Iranian-backed forces to attack US military bases in northeastern Syria.

The group’s claims may be nothing more than a propaganda stunt meant to justify US or Israeli strikes on Iranian-backed forces, who have been guarding the Syrian-Iraqi border from ISIS.

Around ten days ago, a series of airstrikes destroy several vehicles of Iranian-backed forces on the Iraqi side of the border. The US denied responsibility, while Israel remained silent.

Anyone

I call bs on this, why would Iran need an 1000km range missile in Syria? It’s big and stupid in Syria and doesn’t fill any function.

Mike

Again why is anything credible from the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, its one man bozo show from London. Here is the idiot that Southfront waste its time reporting as if it was facts in the ground, here is the face of SOHR: https://wikispooks.com/wiki/Rami_Abdulrahman.

Anyone

I rather meet the assertion or arguments than attacking the person who said it.

Mike

I wasn’t so much attacking the person reporting this article or the site. I just think Southfront should not give this London based clown any credence by posting any of his phony claims. Also if you get a chance to put face of propagandist hack for all to see, like that of Mr. Abdulrahman then why not they need to be exposed.

The “sohr”? Years ago RT went to track down the fool who runs this over publicized site. He was hiding behind multiple addresses, people, cell phones etc.

The reality is not black and white.

Daniel

This is funny because RT (just like SF) regularly uses “sohr”as The main source of information when reporting about Syria, even sometimes about Iraq,

Funny how you never figured out that they are “used” to be the discredited imbeciles that they are. Starting to get the picture genius?

Sas

IRGC have their underground missile workshops spotted around Iraq and Syria. Fateh variant have almost 350 miles range are assemble underground somewhere in South Raqqa, while Shahab3 launchers are in west of Iran with range of 1300 Miles, easily can cover all of Syria and Iraq, no need for Burkan-2H type. I would say they were transported for parts.
