Irish UN Peacekeeper Killed, Three Others Wounded In ‘Serious Incident’ In South Lebanon (Videos)

The offical banner of the UNIFIL.

An Irish peacekeeper was killed and three others were wounded as a result of a “serious incident” in south Lebanon, the United Nations Interim Forces in Lebanon (UNIFIL) said on December 15.

In a statement, the international peacekeeping force said that the incident took place in the town of al-Aqbieh, just outside its area of operations in south Lebanon.

Ireland’s defence minister Simon Coveney said that the peacekeepers came under fire right after leaving the UNIFIL’s area of operations to towards the capital, Beirut.

“The two armoured vehicles effectively got separated. One of them got surrounded by a hostile mob, I think that’s the only way you could describe them, and shots were fired. Unfortunately, one of our peacekeepers was killed,” Coveney told Irish national broadcaster RTE. “This was not expected, yes there has been some tension on the ground between Hezbollah forces and UNIFIL in recent months but nothing like this.”

According to the minister, one of the peacekeepers wounded in the incident remains in critical condition at a UN-managed hospital after undergoing surgery. The other two peacekeepers were treated for minor wounds. As for the four personnel from the other vehicle, none of them was harmed.

Irish Defence Forces Chief of Staff Seán Clancy told RTE that the convey was travelling to Beirut because two Irish service members were returning to Ireland on compassionate leave following the death of family members.

UNIFIL peacekeepers travel on a regular basis between their area of operations and Beirut. However, they don’t usually take side roads like the one passing through al-Aqbieh, according to Lebanese sources. Like many others in south Lebanon, the Shiite town is a stronghold of Hezbollah.

The UNIFIL said in its statement that it was coordinating with the Lebanese military and had launched an investigation into the deadly incident.

“At the moment, details are sparse and conflicting. We are coordinating with the Lebanese Armed Forces, and have launched an investigation to determine exactly what happened,” the statement reads.

Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati regretted the incident from his side and stressed that an investigation must be conducted.

Meanwhile, Hezbollah Liaison Chief Wafiq Safa offered the group condolences to the UNIFIL. He denied that Hezbollah was involved in the incident in any way, saying that what happened was only “between the locals and the UN.”

The UNIFIL, which has been stationed in Lebanon since the 1978 Israeli invasion, is made up of nearly 10,000 soldiers from different contingents.

Locals in south Lebanon confront peacekeepers, especially Western nationals, from time to time on the suspicion of spying on Hezbollah for Israel. In January, Irish UNIFIL peacekeepers were attacked in the town of Bint Jbeil, with their vehicles vandalized and items stolen.

My recommended Strategy regarding spies.

1. Use Overt Strategy for yourself because transparency is ten times as beneficial as secrecy and is more meritorious, honorable, respectable, trustable, visible, etc, etc.

2. Be Trusting first like Tat for tit, which is also ten times more beneficial, etc, etc.

3. Do 1 and 2, and a spy cant reach their objective, so long as you Know Thyself, Know What Matters Most, and Cant be Deterred from your own objective (Your Values and Principles).

4. And this is my favorite, eventually the spy will lose, and are known to use Honey Traps, but if you can stick with 1 2 3, eventually they will fall in Love with you, and if you love them its kosher to fuck them. And if you decide theyre not worth it, you can fuck them or you can fuck them over.

5. And of course always face Al-Yamani or its hellfire.

The Irish would never spy for Israel, they hate that country, as so they should. The locals are dumb.

You’d be surprised mo chara. There is unfortunately there is quite a bit of support for the illegal state of “israel” in Ireland and our government are a bunch of corrupt scumbags!

JJ345

Everyone has a price… and you are stupid to think all of them are anti-Zionists. Also, they are stupid to change their path, the locals did the right thing, they might have been testing the water and before you know it they would start taking pictures and mapping everything…

It is on them and the UN clowns must found out why or who told them to change their path.

L du Plessis

Yes you can expect israeli spies among the western Unifil members.

Not likely in this case. There are probably more Israeli spies among the locals.

UN “peacekeepers” are tools for Zionists and the US, that is just a fact. Zionists have a long history of using UN and other NGOs to spy.

“the town of al-Aqbieh, just outside its area of operations in south Lebanon.” Why were they out of their “operations” area?

Also, we don’t know who attack them still… but – what happened was only “between the locals and the UN.” said Hezbollah which makes sense maybe UN clowns pisskeepers should follow their path and don’t fuk around where they shouldn’t.

No where in the world the UN pisskeepers have a good record, they are known for rape, sex slavery, spying, etc etc. “A Haitian woman was selling charcoal on the empty edges of her small town when a white, uniformed United Nations peacekeeper offered her a lift in his marked vehicle. He raped her shortly after she got in.”

Yes, most of the stories of these “great” people stay unheard…

What are you talking about? Haiti isn’t Lebanon. Yes, UN personell does bad stuff at times. Here, it’s far from clear. They certainly don’t want to stir up tensions between Lebanon and Israel, lol, there are enough already. Sounds more like a moronic mob was out of control, trying to rob some Unifil guys. The spying thing is only a pathetic ‘excuse’ for greed, robbery and murder. Yeah, how noble. Patriotism is the refuge of the last scoundrel.

JJ345

Maybe read the whole thing before talking?

“No where in the world the UN pisskeepers have a good record, they are known for rape, sex slavery, spying, etc etc. “A Haitian woman was selling charcoal on the empty edges of her small town when a white, uniformed United Nations peacekeeper offered her a lift in his marked vehicle. He raped her shortly after she got in.”

“No where in the world the UN pisskeepers have a good record, they are known for rape, sex slavery, spying, etc etc.” and I give an example you donkey. Did I say it happened in Lebanon clown? Stop making shit up in your head.

Also, why so much sucking on the UN pisskeepers? The matter of fact is they shouldn’t been there from the start. Stop crying about them, they fuked up. Maybe you couldn’t fuking read the report that clearly said they change their path.

You don’t like them I don’t fuking care don’t make shit up out of your asshole and at me.

Childish answer you have

Actually, the UN are against both Israel and Lebanon and want to start tensions.

Frankly, it’s hard to believe that anything happens there in the south without the Party’s knowledge and approval. Is that نهضة القيم؟ to kill ppl that want to go home for a funeral? Al-Mayadeen says the situation is unclear, reports being diverse and conflicting. Meaning, the matter is crystal clear and Hezbollah is involved. They need to rein in their footmen, this is bad, sad and counter-productive. Spies will not come in the gusie of UNIFIL soldiers in vehicles passing through.

The Irish aren’t up to the job when it comes to a real fire fight. This is a Hezbollah controlled area not a UN one so keep out or get your ass kicked……
