ISIS And ‘Moderate Rebels’ Unite Efforts Against Syrian Army In Eastern Hama Countryside. Govt Forces Counter-Attack

Support SouthFront

Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (formerly Jabhat al-Nusra, the Syrian branch of al-Qaeda) and its allied groups of the Free Syrian Army (FSA) have united efforts with ISIS in an attempt to cut off the Salamiyah-Ithriyah-Khanassir-Aleppo road, the only government supply line to Aleppo city.

On August 23 and August 24, HTS artillery units conducted a massive bombardment campaign shelling Syrian Arab Army (SAA) positions along the road. At the same time, ISIS attacked the SAA at Wadi al-Adib and Shayk Hilal and even temporarily cut off the road near as-Saan.

Pro-militant sources, including the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), claimed that the SAA suffered a number of tactical setbacks and that ISIS could use the situation in order to recapture a large area in the Uqayrabat pocket.

However, then reports started appearing that the SAA, the Qalamoun Shield Forces and the National Defense Forces (NDF), backed up by Russian attack helicopters, launched a counter-attack in the area and recaptured some points that had been lost to terrorists.

Clashes are ongoing. The situation remains tense.

Anyone surprised alqaida (hts) would try to aid isis? Anyone surprised the “moderate” FSA would try to aid isis too?

By negating the cease fire just to give isis fighters the chance to flee to idlib, the HTS made a major blunder. Now SAA can invade the HTS controlled areas of the idlib province.

So much for idlib breaking away from syria . This does aid the SDF who have more time to take raqqa and then swing to deir ezzor.

Bru

Indeed, there is gundamental difference between the Al-Qaida-HTS jihadist terrorists, the FSA jihadist terrorists and the ISIS jihadist terrorists, just different organisations…

Terra Cotta Woolpuller

They are just affiliates with different names and they all follow the same ideology of the takfiri Wahhabi religion.

Wahid Algiers

This unified attack through the traitor gangs was expected. Smash them and purge the two pockets to free up to 5.000 men to be used in addition to hound these gangs until Idlib governate is liberated. Prepare the second front from Latakia CS. For the run on Deir Ezzor and DE City are enough forces prepared.

DJ Double D

Just as I predicted it will happen. There is a reason why this area is a thorn in the flesh for the SAA. Continue the Fight, no Retreat. Victory will be yours.

Wahid Algiers

Your comment could be prior the SAA as well as the terrorist gangs.

Wahid Algiers

“According to Al-Masdar News field correspondent Ibrahim Joudeh, the SAA and NDF have already retaken one checkpoint and are working on restoring the second point as we speak. He stressed that the situation was under control and the Aleppo supply line safe.”

Ivanus59

A sound tactical decision by the terrorist cowards, but ultimately it will end in their failure.

Wahid Algiers

Just happened: “According to Al-Masdar News field correspondent Ibrahim Joudeh, the SAA and NDF have already retaken one checkpoint and are working on restoring the second point as we speak. He stressed that the situation was under control and the Aleppo supply line safe.”

Terra Cotta Woolpuller

This is a weak attempt meant they concentrated forces in to one side and weakened their rear thus exposing themselves this way is a bad decision since they are not that numerous. Idlib is still left with other groups who could use this as chance to gain ground and work with the SAA to take out HTS(Daesh) and it’s affiliates, breaking the ceasefire will bring an end to them sooner rather than later.

jason sixx

More dead terrorist monkey bodies. This will make hts and fsa cunts weaker for their idlib and latakia fights

Barba_Papa

Anyone who is surprised by this raises their hand?

No one?

This was in the making for a looooooooong time. Frankly I’m surprised it took this long.

Terra Cotta Woolpuller

This just shows how bad the Daesh forces really are in organizing an attack to help other Daesh forces in the pockets , they are all the same terrorists.

El Diablo

Good, if they try a major offensive, they will die quickly and the pocket freed rapidly :D

Wahid Algiers

nothing important happened: “According to Al-Masdar News field correspondent Ibrahim Joudeh, the SAA and NDF have already retaken one checkpoint and are working on restoring the second point as we speak. He stressed that the situation was under control and the Aleppo supply line safe.”

Trustin Judeau

This was mainly twitter offensive https://twitter.com/AllyOfTruth/status/900634167280623616 .

Thegr8rambino

LOL!

Justin

So from this we learn there is no difference between HTS and idlib FSA, no difference between HTS and ISIS, no different between NSA (New Syrian Army or southern FSA) and ISIS. Infact those fools refuse to fight with the SDF! These southern FSA / NSA were supposed to fight ISIS but instead fight the SAA and the Americans and Israeli’s just say “oh, sorry, there is nothing we can do about it”!

So lets just be honest, there is only 2 sides, SAA and allies vs ISIS and Allies! And we all know who’s allies are who’s!

Wahid Algiers

Right Justin. And this failed assault has one big advantage now: SAA can declare that the ceasefire is broken and to go on finally purging Idlib prov. simultaneously with breaking the Deir Ezzor siege. When the two pockets are purged the manpower to do so will be given.

Jan Tjarks

The new excuse from Al-Qaeda (HTS) is, that they only open a path for civilians.

There was never a difference between moderate head choppers and extreme head choppers.

Joe Doe

As I express may times SAA has poor tactical, strategical planning and poor intelligent gatherings. The buffer zone between FSA in Idlib and ISIS was so thin that was matter of time this offence to happen. Allowing by the Assad Government transport FSA fighter from another area in SYria does not helping. Now SAA will have to fight them again. FSA and HTS in Idlib have time to rearm, regroup, reinforce with new units and rest makes huge advantage for FSA and HTS.

Because the poor planning mentioned above SAA will have no choice but to delay advances East.

My conclusion is very simple. During the 7 years war in SYria, SAA learn very little about warfare in 21 country and is very little chance they will to be army of today’s warfare.

Jakke1899

I think you are to negative about the qualities of the SAA. Indeed not every of their units is Tiger Forces level, but they have come a long way. The reason that the unitied jihadi forces could make this attack, is only due to the lack of manpower with the SAA.

Terra Cotta Woolpuller

They had to amass a large force was Daesh and this so far has been seen to been a weak raid at best. They probed as their US training has taught them to do since very basic attack nothing to great. If this were to expand anymore it would show a blatant hand by the US in the manipulation of these forces. Since the US is still trying to push their BS about the chemical attacks of which the first RET. General Vallaly was responsible for transporting the Sarin from Turkey in his Turkish escort.

They used classic pincer attacks on the flanks in the north from Maadan and in the south flank of T2 , problem is they are only lightning strikes with light defenders afterwards. This is an attempt to try to relieve pressure from the pocket , bad decision to push towards DE right now clear the pockets and defend should be the priority against counter attacks as they will be expected.

Jan Tjarks

That’s why I expected SAA to clean out the pockets first.

Nevertheless, it is a bit surprising that SAA got taken by surprise, especially in this area. Even though, Daesh doesn’t have the strength anymore, the attacks themselves were coordinated quite well, but lacked steam.

Terra Cotta Woolpuller

Yes they lacked any real impetus and they will probably countered and there will be gains against them apparently they suffered heavy casualties in taking their objectives. These were coordinated by the US advisers in Daesh which all the attacking factions seem to really be.

Graeme Rymill

In order to attack and hold ground there has to be a degree of concentration. These attacks will just expose ISIS and their allies to the Syrian and Russian airpower, artillery and rockets. ISIS is finished in central Syria. Deir Ezzor may be harder though.

IFFighter

Can someone give me the link on that SOHR claims, please? Can’t find it on their site.

Joop Buchtaer

I found it on their website but it’s in Arabic:

http://www.syriahr.com/2017/08/24/%D8%A8%D8%B9%D8%AF-%D8%AD%D8%B5%D8%A7%D8%B1%D9%87-%D9%81%D9%8A-%D8%B1%D9%8A%D9%81-%D8%AD%D9%85%D8%A7%D8%A9-%D8%AA%D9%86%D8%B8%D9%8A%D9%85-%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%AF%D9%88%D9%84%D8%A9-%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%A5/

Wahid Algiers

Nothing can be found. The attack is over and repelled so SOHR wants not to link this information anymore.

Joop Buchtaer

You’re wrong:

Cia trained and coordinated terrorism..Any more question about the 21.st century USA..? The greatest Terrorists Force on the Planet..

northerntruthseeker .

ok..Time for another reality check.. THERE ARE NO MODERATE “REBELS”, PERIOD! Both the fraud “ISIS” and the so called “Moderate rebels” are US paid operatives, mercenaries, and high paid Syrian idiots…. Therefore this attack does make sense as a last act of desperation to try to save the failed US situation in Syria…
