On January 26, a VBIED of ISIS targeted a convoy of the Egyptian Army in the Wadi al-Arish area south of the city of Arish in the northern part of the Sinai Peninsula, according to the ISIS-linked news agency Amaq.
The media outlet said that two bulldozes of the Egyptian Army were destroyed and several Egyptian soldiers were killed and injured in the VBIED attack.

Moreover, ISIS fighters destroyed an armored vehicle of the Egyptian Army with an IED near the al-Sha’ir checkpoint around the city of Rafah in the northern part of the Sinai Peninsula, according to Amaq.
From its side, Egyptian Army Spokesman Colonel Tamer Rifai said in an official statement that ten hideouts of ISIS in the Sinai Peninsula were discovered and destroyed by the Egyptian Army during a security operation. Explosive materials and fuel were stored by ISIS fighters inside the hideouts, according to the official statement.

The ISIS VIBED attack was likely a response to a series of successful military operations that the Egyptian Army conducted against ISIS cells in the Sinai Peninsula on January 26. The Egyptian Army is also set to launch a bigger military operation against ISIS in Sinai soon, according to reports.

You lack some basic understanding of MENA politics. There are 3 main groups fighting for power in Egypt and sometimes two of them get allied. The Muslim brotherhood (supported by Turkey and Qatar), The Salfi (supported by backward state, Saudi, UAE, Kuwait..) and there is the Army representing civil society.
The army had always power, even when for a brief moment the brotherhood took over. They didn’t need permission to overthrow the president but they needed to make it the bloodless possible, they got Saudi, UAE help for that, with their media (El Arabiya) to counter Aljazeera.
The french benefited from Libya by buying extremely cheap oil, if Libya unites, such a deal disappears.
