ISIS Cells Abducted Ten Syrian Soldiers On Palmyra-Deir Ezzor Highway – Report

ISIS cells abducted more than ten soldiers of the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) between the governorates of Homs and Deir Ezzor, the Syrian pro-government blog al-Masdar News reported on March 27, citing a source in Damascus.

According to the source, the soldiers were abducted by the terrorist group while they were traveling on the Palmyra-Deir Ezzor highway. The fate of the soldiers remains unknown.

This was not the first time Syrian service members were abducted by ISIS while moving between the two governorates. Earlier this month, three SAA personnel where captured by the terrorist group east of Palmyra.

ISIS cells are launching these hit and run attacks from their last positions in the Homs desert. Hundreds of terrorists are reportedly hiding there. Most of them are highly-experienced and well-armed.

A day earlier, the Syrian National Defense Forces (NDF) launched a combing operation along the Palmyra-Deir Ezzor highway. While the operation could limit ISIS capability to carry out hit and run attacks, the threat posed by the terrorist group will likely remain until the Homs desert is fully cleared.

Seriously, how do you fucking ABDUCT 10 soldiers?!!! Oh I forgot, Daesh have superhuman strength, the power of invisibility, unlimited manpower as well as ammunition and can do absolutely anything…..For fuck sake Syria.

I agree- they had guns, they should die instead of surrendering to dash.

Since it doesn’t appear likely that Idlib will be liberated any time soon the Tigers should have been redeployed to this region months ago so that the ISIS infestation in the desert is finally taken care off. As long as Damascus continues to ignore this attacks such as these will continue to happen. Until one day ISIS will launch an attack so big and daring that not even Damascus can ignore it anymore. Like when ISIS kidnapped a large number of civilians from As Suwayda.

But what do I know, I’m just an armchair general. I’m sure there are lots of good reasons to ignore this problem and keep all the crack troops twiddling thumbs in other sectors doing fuck all.

well said ..

Yeah, just as i said yesterday.. Still no change, only some small scale ops, no real solution, while they have to sit on their own hands because Russia still hopes Turkey will somehow magically become a trustable partner. My biggest fear is for the morale of the SAA. They must feel back stabbed, seeing their comrades die and being forced to do nothing.

Without supplies of money, food and weapons any militant group will simply fade away. So who’s supplying these militants. They are of course much more likely to be Special Forces from some country.
