ISIS cells in the Homs desert ambushed on September 27 an armed pick-up truck of the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) in the eastern Homs countryside.
The pick-up was targeted by a remotely-controlled improvised explosive device (IED), while it was heading to the strategic town of al-Sukhnah.
The ISIS main news agency, Amaq, released photos showing the aftermath of the ambush. The photos show the heavily damaged pick-up and the dead bodies of two Syrian service members.

Earlier this week, a similar attack targeted a pick-up truck of the Liwa al-Quds near Palmyra. Five fighters of the pro-government group were injured and killed as a result.
These new attacks show how the terrorist group is attempting to expand its presence in eastern Homs – the key region that links western and eastern parts of the country.
