Late on July 31, ISIS cells in Syria’s central region ambushed an oil shipment of the government that was heading from Raqqa to Homs.
The shipment came under attack to the northeast of al-Saan town on the Salamiyah-Raqqa road in the eastern Hama countryside, a military source told Al Madina FM, adding that an army unit clashed with the terrorists.
“The clashes claimed the lives of several Syrian army personnel as well as several drivers of the tankers, of which six were destroyed,” the unnamed source said. “In addition, a number of terrorists were killed or wounded.”
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a London-based pro-opposition monitoring group, said that five soldiers and two drivers were killed in the ambush.
ISIS has not claimed responsibility for the attack, yet. However, the terrorist group does not always announce its attacks in Syria’s central region.
On July 22, the group was blamed for a roadside bomb attack that targeted a military bus near Tuinan gas field, which is located right on the administrative border between Hama, Homs and Raqqa. Eight Syrian soldiers and pro-government fighters were killed in the attack.
Later on July 29, it was reported that the group’s cells abducted three sheepherders, stole 400 sheep and set a tractor on fire during an attack near the town of Madan Atiq in the western countryside of Deir Ezzor.
ISIS has been waging an insurgency in central Syria for around five years. The recent attacks show how the group is now working to expand its influence in the region.

syria needs to create a special group, directly connected to the president… and “solve” this problem..
to solve the problem, you must exterminate the yankee and nato invaders/criminals/thieves !! as long as russia is hindering the actions from the syrian army nothing is gona change. the only party who realy helps is iran who delivers armaments and explosift to the syrian resistence. russia could solve it in 5 to 7 missils and kabooom game over for yankees, nato and uk criminals.
