ISIS cells in the southern Syrian governorate of Daraa have attacked a bus carrying Syrian Arab Army (SAA) service members with improvised explosive devices (IEDs), the terrorist group claimed on November 9.

Amaq, the ISIS news agency, reported that the bus was targeted with two IEDs near the town of Rakham in northeastern Daraa.

“As a result [of the attack] it [the bus] was damaged and everyone who was aboard it was injured, thank God,” Amaq’s report reads.

ISIS’ claims were not confirmed by any local source, nor by monitoring groups, like the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SHOR).

ISIS cells conducted several similar attacks in the last few months. Last July five Syrian service members were killed when an IED hit a bus that was transporting them in western Daraa. A month later, an attack on an army bus injured seven soldiers.

By conducting such attacks, ISIS and other terrorist groups are seeking to destabilize the situation in southern Syria.
