The remaining ISIS cells in the area of al-Safa have agreed to release 6 female hostages, who were abducted during a brutal attack on the eastern al-Suwayda countryside in late July, a Syrian security source told the Russian RT TV on October 17.
According to the source, the Damascus government will release 17 ISIS fighters from its prisons in exchange for the hostages. The source didn’t clarify the fate of around 24 other hostages, who will likely remain in the hands of ISIS for the time being.
A day earlier, a 24-hour ceasefire was imposed in al-Safa upon a request from Russia, which is overseeing the negotiations between the Damascus government and the terrorist organization. The ceasefire was violated by a group of ISIS snipers. However, it didn’t collapse.
The ceasefire may be extended in order to maintain the momentum of the negotiations and to ensure the release of the remaining hostages. Regarding the fate of ISIS fighters, Syrian pro-government sources said that they may withdraw from al-Safa to another area, mostly likely the Homs desert.
How the fuck are these guys still fighting without resupply?
Trick question obviously they are being resupplied from Tanf somehow
Surely they had stocks of food and water, but if now they are negociating it’s because they don’t have for much longer.
Air America.
“Syrian pro-government sources said that they may withdraw from al-Safa to another area, mostly likely the Homs desert.” This area has been left open as the last dumping ground for ISIS rats. From there they might try to migrate to Al Tanf area I think.
“From there they might try to migrate to Al Tanf area I think”
but hey, ISIS terrorists have the right to head to freedom (arrrrkkh) too!
and what better place than al-tanf to find liberty (ptoooo!).
Nah. Their best bet would be to head towards Idlib to exit into Turkey. ISIS still has plenty of cells and supporters along the major roads from al-Bukamah all the way into Idlib. Damascus will be busy dealing with them for a long, long time. So will the SDF.
So much for not negotiating with terrorists…
That’s an american ” trade- mark”. The Russians successfully negotiated with them all along in the course of the last 3 years. .
That is not a point in their favor. There should be no means by which any group would have incentive or see possible benefit from terror methods, therefor there will be no tolleration nor mercy. And this is not a trademark of America, it is trademark of Israel (especially Golda Meir).
And I already know what you’re going to say; you’re going to switch your tune and say that tollerates terror methods in this group or another. But how oblivious you are to how much you discredit your own argument and hiw predictable your libel is.
Ha ha ha. I made my point already.
That you have no idea what you’re talking about? That you have no retort? I wish we met in person so that no one would have to put up with you on this side of eternity anymore. But instead of that: mute.
Oh, I can talk all right, however I only talk to people I respect . Responding to your comment does not mean I am specifically talking to you.( that would be pointless). It was meant for the sane. BTW, you might go to eternity before having the pleasure to meet me. Karma is a bitch, you know.
Question: How does any ISIS terrorist can get out of Al-Safa it it assumed that this area is totally surounded by SAA troops ? I do not understand the last statement of this article.
Perhaps because it’s NOT completely surrounded by SAA troops?!
They can get out…if they get such a deal with the government, I presume.
The US ambassador to Jordan will meet them I suppose. :)
isil should be transferred near jirs shougur area soAlqaida and isil eat each other and SAA can take over that city.
