ISIS terrorists inflicted heavy losses on Nigerian government forces in two recent attacks in the northeastern state of Borno.

The first attack, which took place on July 13, saw the terrorists targeting several posts of local pro-government forces near the town of Lambwa.

Four fighters and a civilian, allegedly a spy for the government, were killed by the terrorists. During the attack, the ISIS members also captured a pickup truck and set several houses on fire.

The second, larger attack took place on July 15. ISIS terrorists stormed a base of the Nigerian Armed Forces in the town of Kawri. At least one service member was killed.

During the attack, the terrorists set a Swiss-made Mowag Piranha I armored personnel carrier, a French-made Panhard AML armored car and a pickup truck on fire. The terrorists also captured four pickup trucks as well as quantities of weapons and ammunition.

ISIS cells have stepped up their attacks on Nigerian government forces and civilians in the last few weeks. The terrorists carried out attacks in Borno, Yobe and Adamawa.

The terrorist group has established a strong presence in Nigeria over the last year. Despite government efforts, the threat posed by the group continues to grow.

A few military vehicles burnt or captured along with weapons and ammo. One soldier killed at an army base. Sounds like the rest of them put a a brave defense of the base and ran at the first shot. Reports just in , a large group of Nigerian soldiers were seen running weaponless in bare feet in Chad heading for Sudan at a high rate of knots .

I don’t know that I would call five dead “heavy casualties”.

Unless they were the fat ones that couldn’t run fast enough.

Actually, the Nigerians are inflicting severe losses on ISWAP and the Boko Haram remnants. But the terrorists are emphasizing more propaganda to shore up their recruitments. A lot of the terrorists are surrendering due to the introduction of new offensive weapons and the increase tempo of attacks by the Nigerian side. That said, Nigeria needs to talk more to Russia about acquiring more attack helicopters and strike planes like the Su-34 and the Su-25 but don’t know how the US will react to them buying Russian weapons? But at this point its focus is doing whatever is necessary to defeat this terror insurgency.
