On October 28, a suicide vehicle-borne improvised explosive device (SVBIED) of ISIS targeted a convoy of the US-led coalition and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) on the road between the town of al-Shuhayl and the Omar oil fields, according to the ISIS-linked news agency Amaq.
Local sources confirmed Amaq’s claims and released a video supposedly showing the explosion of the SVBIED in the outskirts of al-Shuhayl. However, SouthFront was not able to verify the video.
The Syrian news outlet Hurrya Press said that several fighters of the SDF were killed and injured as a result of the attack. Furthermore, a source familiar with the situation in the southeastern Deir Ezzor countryside confirmed to the pro-opposition news outlet that the attack was carried out by ISIS cells in the region.
Earlier today, ISIS fighters in the southeastern Deir Ezzor countryside killed more than 41 fighters and commanders of the SDF in a series of attacks. The terrorist group also managed to recapture several positions in the Euphrates Valley.
The SDF and its security forces appear to be overwhelmed by ISIS cells, which are operating freely in northeastern Syria. The hostile behavior of the Kurdish-dominated group towards local Arabs is likely one of the reasons why the terrorist group is still able to recruit new members.
One group of terrorists against the other. This is good news for Syria and Syrians who want their lands cleaned of both local and foreign terrorists.
Would you guys please stop calling ISIL as ISIS. “ISIS” was an ancient Egyptian and Roman god most famous for “Using war to create masses of refugees and turn them into prostitutes”. True blasphemy is to claim being god, while you know you are not” This name has claimed such and worshiped for thousand of years by different cultures. The name “ISIS” is the name of blasphemy. Shall not be spoken according to the bible. Sad but interestingly, that group is committing what it has been famous for. Please STOP calling ISIL as a Roman god.
