ISIS Claimed Responsibility For Explosion That Left 23 Causalities In Iraq’s Baghdad (Video)

ISIS has claimed responsibility for a deadly explosion that rocked the Shiite-majority district of al-Kadhimiya in the northern outskirts of the Iraqi capital Baghdad on June 3.

The terrorist group said that the explosion, which targeted a gathering of Shiite worshipers near a local Shrine in the district, was orchestrated by its security cells in Baghdad.

Initially, Iraqi security sources claimed that the explosion was the result of an “accident” caused by a faulty gas cylinder. ISIS dismissed these claims in a statement shared by the Amaq news agency.

“The Iraqi government tried in its statements to conceal the nature of the explosion, saying that it was caused by a gas cylinder explosion at a store,” the statement reads.

At least three people were killed and 20 others were wounded as a result of the terrorist attack, which was not the first this year.

On January 21, two suicide bombers of ISIS blew themselves up at an open-air market in central Baghdad. 32 people were killed and more than 100 others were injured as a result of the brutal terrorist attack. On April 15, two people were killed and 12 others were injured when a booby-trapped car parked by ISIS cells blew up in the eastern outskirts of Baghdad.

ISIS’ recent attacks highlight serious flaws in the security measures of the Iraqi capital, where the terrorist group’s cells continue to operate.
