ISIS Claims Its Fighters Repelled Another Syrian Army Attack On Al-Safa

On October 31, ISIS claimed that its fighters had repelled a new attack by the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and its allies on their positions in the heavily fortified area of al-Safa.

According to the terrorist group news agency, Amaq, 33 soldiers and officers of the SAA were killed and injured during the clashes in the area, which is located north of the governorate of al-Suwayda. Amaq’s claims are yet to be confirmed or denied by any pro-government source.

Two days ago, ISIS repelled a similar SAA attack killing and injuring four Syrian soldiers. Back then, the terrorists targeted a battle tank and a military bulldozer of the army with anti-tank guided missiles (ATGMs). The source of these advanced weapons has not been determined yet.

The Damascus government and ISIS cells in al-Safa reached an agreement earlier this month to release around 30 hostages, who were abducted by the terrorist group in late July. However, ISIS violated the agreement after releasing six hostages only, which forced the SAA to resume its military operation in the area.

Looks like victories and gains for the SAA are becoming few and far between now.

Zionism = EVIL

Not really, they have reclaimed 75% of the country and the rest will fall in place sooner than later. It is time to keep SAA casualties low.

PZIVJ

No doubt SAA has had time to rest and become stronger. But this pocket of ISIS rats needs to be taken out ! Al Safa is treacherous defensive terrain, more air power is needed as you stated above.

Jens Holm

Bombs has no effect in that terrain. ISIS are experts in defence hiding everything very well.

PZIVJ

Russian night time infrared spotting and thermobarics might do the trick.

potcracker2588

thermobaric and phoshor…both legal in remote areas…..and a couple of ballistic missiles wouldnt be bad too, as the terrorists cant hear and see them coming

FlorianGeyer

The intention is to give the hostage rescue as much chance as possible.

If your family were held by the US backed ISIS there , would you want the SAA to give them a chance to live ?

PZIVJ

The hostage situation is news in Syria. But ISIS is using this to their advantage for sure. :(

Jens Holm

He is alredy in bed for security matters :)

jorge

It’s going to be interesting to khow what happened to the hostages caught in East Euphrates. The only news I read, and I think that was here, in SF (but I’m not sure), was that ISIS have already killed them. Lets see, the ISIS, as the bandits they are, make hostages to bargain, with the Syrians they really arrive to bargain, but with the yankees they can’t bargain and so they killed the hostages?

You can call me Al

No, but there must be a time when someone must call a halt on the deaths in the squads.

FlorianGeyer

I would agree, as I am sure the families of the hostages would do after all the possibilities to rescue the hostages have been taken.

Zionism = EVIL

Russia needs to flatten the region. Where is Russian airforce?

Jens Holm

We have seen many pictures from there. Its impossible to flatten terrain like that.

You could gas them.

FlorianGeyer

Perhaps you could travel to the area as one whiff of the stale air coming from your mouth would put all of the ISIS terrorists to sleep Jens :)

Jens Holm

Fine with me SAA dont stop attacking them, even I hope the losses are not that big.

potcracker2588

yes there are still hostages..how many are still alive is anyones quess….but this nonsense has to stop..time to call in the russian airforce and drop some “real” sweeties such as the MOAN…..this situation is very similar to the situation down in yemen in hudaiday area……shitty, rocky terrain, plenty of places to hide , the enemy dug in and focused………..thats how the houthis constantly beat the saudi/merc troops down at hudeiday

John Whitehot

yeah you wish.

Russian planes bombing hostages with thermobarics, your fucking wet dream.

You can call me Al

Hold on a mo. Whilst I almost never agree nor give pottyboy much of my time, on this one, I have to say that I think he is right.

Let us say there are 20 hostages, how many brave, heroic troops need to lose their lives for them.

Either blitz the area as he stated or move them to the East of the Euphrates in return for the hostages.

My view only.

John Whitehot

not relevant.

the point is that Syria and Russia haters will become sexually aroused only by talking about a situation where ISIS hostages have been hurt by military action.

If they could put their hands on, or fabricate evidence that such thing happened, they could start one of those mediatic litanies, where the “evil Russians” and their “dictator and butcher friend Assad” have “no regards for the lives of innocents”, and all the miserable pharisaic garbage they’ve been producing since the start.

All this bs is overcome by never forgetting who has the moral responsibility for the start of the war: Israel, Saudia, the US, the UK, France.

every single casualty of this war it’s their own, sole responsibility, and make no mistake – they will not evade the judgement of history.

You can call me Al

OK, fair play.

Promitheas Apollonious

some people have the excuse that are mentally challenged…….. what is yours with all the garbage you keep posting?

You can call me Al

ENOUGH NOW. Blow the place to smithereens.

gustavo

Well, Syria war tactics looks terrible in this area. Let Russia take over this situation.
