The head of ISIS military operations in Syria’s eastern Deir Ezzor province has been killed along 16 other terrorists in clashes with the Syrian army.
The head of ISIS military operations in Syria’s Deir Ezzor province, Amer Ghaffal al-Saleh, was killed along 16 other terrorists in clashes with the Syrian army in the vicinity of the Deir ez-Zor military airport, the ARA News press agency reported on Wednesday, citing local sources.
“Clashes broke out after ISIS fighters launched a mortar attack on the army headquarters in the airport and killed over a dozen Syrian soldiers,” media activist Ahmed Ramadan told ARA News.
“The army troops were then engaged in clashes with ISIS militants and killed at least 17 from the group, including its military commander in the province Amer Ghaffal al-Saleh,” the source said.
According to sources close to ISIS who spoke to ARA News on condition of anonymity, Al-Saleh was the head of military operations of the Islamic State against the Syrian army in Deir Ezzor and its countryside.
According to information provided by activists on Tuesday, the Syrian army also killed Abu Azzam, known as an ISIS Emir, during an attack in al-Tharda district of Deir Ezzor province.
