ISIS conducted a series of small counter-attacks against the Iraqi Army in the western part of Mosul.
ISIS fighters destroyed 5 Humvees and 2 bulldozers belonging to the army in Zinjili district. The terrorist group also claimed that it had managed to recapture few points in the district.
In the Old Mosul area, ISIS regained control ovr five positions in the Aleppo Street, as well as the Bab Al-Toub, Al-Nabi Shit and Ras Al-Jada steets. Furthermore, ISIS downed two drones of the Iraqi Army in Bab Al-Toub and in Al-Shifa districts.
An Iraqi Army source announced that the liberation of the entire Mosul city is imminent. The commander of the Iraqi anti-terrorism unit, General Abdul Ghani al-Assadi, has promised to kill all ISIS militants who remained in Mosul city stressing that there is no choice for these terrorists except surrender or death.
According to Al-Assadi, the Iraqi Army may liberate Mosul in two months if there were no civilians in the city.
According to unconfirmed reports, the Iraqi Popular Mobilization Units (PMU) managed to liberate the Al-Safouk border crossing at the Syrian-Iraqi border.
The PMU also announced the liberation of 12 villages north and east of Al-Baaj before liberating the town itself. During its advance, the PMU killed 37 ISIS fighters.
The Iraqi Air Force destroyed two VBIEDs south of Al-Baaj, and the PMU captured another one.
Al Safouk is a perfect point to enter Syria for the PMU. The next good road into Syria is 100 km to the south.
