Voiceover by Harold Hoover

Last evening, ISIS terrorists launched a counter-attack against US-backed YPG forces northwest of al-Raqqah, attacking the areas of Sweidiya al-Saghirah and Job Shaeer.

As a result of a series of intense firefights, ISIS units retook control of Sweidiya al-Saghirah and advanced on YPG positions in the area of Jabar.

YPG forces, backed up by US-led coalition warplanes, repelled the terrorist group’s attack on Job Shaeer.

ISIS-linked sources released reports that about 70 Kurdish fighters were killed in the ISIS counter-attacks. Pro-Kurdish sources claimed that some 46 ISIS members were killed in clashes for Sweidiya al-Saghirah.

The recent ISIS operation is an illustration of SouthFront’s previous report that the terrorist group implements a fluid defense approach, strategically withdrawing to well-prepared defensive positions near the city of al-Raqqah.

This is now the main reason behind the rapid YPG advance in the al-Raqqah countryside.

Once more SouthFront narrative which reads … ” The recent ISIS operation is an illustration of SouthFront’s previous report that the terrorist group implements a fluid defense approach, strategically withdrawing to well-prepared defensive positions near the city of al-Raqqah.

This is now the main reason behind the rapid YPG advance in the al-Raqqah countryside. ” is 100 % correct. Pretty impressive counter-attack for Dai ‘sh supposedly in retreat and without the benefit of NATO US and French close air support. Never, ever, underestimate your enemy.

Well, I dont trust any of those writers about i being 100%. Both has loses, and its true ISIS has rapid movements for counterattacs and SDF are very good in deep defence most of the time.

It was a fake the jabbar castle were taken back. We might get more information later and bite toe nails until then.

Yes both sides make false claims of losses and enemy killed. I remember NATO/US ridiculous daily false claims of Serbian armor/tanks etc knocked out when bombing Kosovo.

Jens Holm

Not much was fake there., but its true some incidents were observed from different places of the mountain tops as 2 or 3, but it was oberservation of the only one and same.

Early afternoon, at 13.05, SDF closed the pocket nw Al Raqqah, trapping any remaining IS.

The counterattack either was not there or nipped in the bud.

IS is indeed rather good at counterattacking and they often succeed, except against the SDF that advances slowly and is on its guard against counterattacks by IS , which therefore mostly fail.

After cleaning the encircled pocket SDF will clear the area in from of the Tabqa dam. We will have to see whether they will go for the dam. My gut feeling is they will.

As we now all know : fake news.

Matbe SF should be a bit more careful before publishing.
