Syrian government forces have liberated 4 more villages northwest of Deir Ezzor city from ISIS as the terrorist group’s defense collapses on multiple frontlines in the city countryside.
According to pro-government sources, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and its allies liberated Hawi, Zughayr, Hamad and Shumaytah villages and set a foothold for advancing on the nearby oil wells.
Earlier today, the Russian Defense Ministry announced that Syrian forces have crossed the Euphrates River east of Deir Ezzor and liberated some villages on the eastern bank of the river.

It should be easy enough for ISIS to cut off the overly-extended, lightly-armed SDF forces either on the north-south highway or Hwy. 7. Not only is that not happening, but the Russians say there isn’t even any fighting going on between the SDF and ISIS on the east bank. The US is only conducting a handful of air strikes there. Once again, ISIS magically melts away when the SDF shows up. The only question is why did the SDF suddenly stop their advance towards Deir EzZor and move up Hwy. 7 instead?
BEcause they do not want to really fight. In the urban area of deiz it will be impossible to grab land without losses. I would say they wanted to cut HW7 to prevent SAA to use it to get to As Suwar(and get it for themselves if they can). The other route is on the forrest zone of river banks where ambushes will be the norm.
According to militarymaps.info a Russian air strike within the SDF held area close to Deir Ezzor will have send a message.
Seems like they were not even at the industrial zone at all ,those were just smoke screens reports , they lacked the manpower for the advance in the first place. This is what was expected making claims of false advances ,why they are lightly bombing there. They are pushing to as Suwar to capture the oilfields from there.
It stinks of complicity.
More good news: BREAKING: Two large cargo planes land at Deir Ezzor airbase, first time in 3 years. The ability to land heavy cargo planes at Deir EzZor is a game-changer.
It seems ‘large’ cargo plane is a bit of al-Masdar hyperbole. Latest AMN video shows a smallish Yak-40 commuter tri-jet and what what may be an old An-26 – both Syrian Air. Cargo capacity of 5.5 tons and 4 tons respectively. Both can use shorter runways.
Shouldn’t have any problem putting a fully-loaded Il-76 down on the Deir EzZor airport runway (10,000 ft.) if the whole thing is in good repair. An older model Il-76 can carry 40+ tons of cargo, the newest Russian Air Force versions can carry more than 52 tons.
Agree they are not large. Maybe the runway is not completely intact so not suitable for larger ones yet. But it is a PR coup nevertheless!
