ISIS fighters attacked a checkpoint of the Libyan National Army (LNA) near the entrance of the oil-rich town of Zillah in central Libya on May 18.

The terrorist group’s news agency, Amaq, claimed that 3 LNA service members were killed and 4 others were captured in the course of the hit and run attack.

From its side, the LNA’s media office said that the army “repelled” a terrorist attack on its positions near Zillah, holding supporters of the Muslim Brotherhood party responsible for the incident.

“[The attack] came after a number of provocative messages and publications by a number of personalities affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood terrorist organization,” the media office said in a short press release.

Earlier this week, Libya’s House of Representatives, that’s backing the LNA, designated the Muslim Brotherhood Party as a terrorist group, accusing it of coordinating with ISIS.

The terrorist group resumed its attacks on LNA forces in southern and central Libya after the beginning of the army’s “Operation Flood of Dignity” against the Muslim Brotherhood-backed Government of National Accord (GNA), which is controlling the country’s capital, Tripoli.
